Top half does not validate this performance from the manager. Why do you continually suggest that it is what we should be happy with?

I remember the whole fan base going mad when Neville suggested he same.
I dont. Others do. My take is always consistent: 5th is just as useless as 15th.

Nowhere positions for a nowhere club.

I'd rather have a good chance of winning a domestic cup than be handed a 5th spot.

Except that the difference between 5th and 15th is ~8 million in prize money. the 5th place team is on TV more, which means more revenue and international exposure. And Europe which helps attract a higher caliber player; would you rather sign for Tottenham or Sunderland? Europe, turns out, is also pretty damn fun to watch as a fan. I don't understand how you don't/won't see this and continue to insist we all see everything with the same delusion.

Ok, let me answer your question: Martinez as a manager is capable, as he proved in the first season here. This new squad has needed time to develop, find its feet and make its errors and therefore is not a CL spot team as it stands. If we add quality in the GK and certain defensive positions in the summer then we can certainly have a reasonable shot at a CL spot.

Mostly the same players as his 1st season but with 2 extra years experience. What are they developing into?

If they 'out-arsenal' today like they did at the emirates the season before last, only couple it with a win this time, I MIGHT look for something to clean the vandal grease off the fence...

I don't see them doing so.

1-1.

The derby's still martinez's crunch game, for me. Fail to win that, and I want him gone in May.

He has his excuse for the derby already. Eyes on the cup semi.
