but after two years mate, the blame the players excuse for poor form either tells us that its A) down to the manager or B) we have crap players. a run of games is different to two seasons of it, it#s hard to keep blaming the players for things if they are only following instructions given to them (or lack of).

compared to Jags for example ball watching and letting the striker behind him, 100% his fault., that is where the player blame is.

It's just this thing we all do where we pick a side and stick to it, even though there are many other reasons why stuff happens.

Our players have under performed this season. That's obvious surely? And yes that's a problem with the manager, and the players themselves.

think it can be firther confused by tactical decisions the manager makes as well though mate, for example when we went 3 at the back the players looked like they had no clue what or who was responsible for anything, is that then down to the players or is it down to the manager - for me it would be the manager not understanding that the players are not comfortable in that system and he hasnt realsied it

But surely that's not all down to RM either.

That's the players mate.

They have to go out and do the job on the pitch.

I'm not defending RM but the players are as culpable as he is at times.
I understand where you're coming from here mate...but the players disinterest is a manifestation of their disinclination toward the 'philosophy' of their leader. Harry Truman had a sign on his oval office desk declaring 'the buck stops here'. At Everton Football Club, for all intents and purposes (as far as we as supporters are concerned), that sign resides on the desk of the manager...but R Martinez shiftily keeps on moving that sign to any old desk in any near vicinity. It's not good enough...I DEMAND better.

that is the other thing, our players have under performed. Except key players in the team haven't. The likes of Baines / Coleman / Howard / McCarthy sure, they have not been at their best. But Barry / Mori / Lukaku /Barkely have exceeded expectation on them as well. So its balance and counter balance, for every bad game coleman has for example, lukaku is scoring up the other end.

21 wins in 67 matches......phenomenomenomenol you crazy lost the plot Catalan demi-God.

In all seriousness, another performance like Saturday's and anybody still in the "Martinez in" camp need certifying themselves.

what's the point now though?

All it would do is further disrupt the squad ahead of the semi-final.

It is my belief, based on the shambles I watched on Saturday, that the squad is already disrupted.

That was not the display of a squad in harmony and at ease with their coach.

If the semi final was the next match I would certainly say keep him in place and see how it goes.

But these next four matches in the intervening period worry me.

Old Trafford next.....The Pit in the midweek leading up to the semi final.

To get owt from either of those games is going to require a strength of character which seems to have all but evaporated judging by what I have witnessed recently.

(Thinking back a few weeks before the West Ham debacle, we were three nil up agains this season's whipping boys and conceded a soft goal which, incredibly, left us clinging on and were lucky not to concede another....God knows what would gave happened had Villa not missed that sitter to make it 2-3 with plenty of time left)

In between those two emotionally draining league games we face a trip to Watford and entertain Saints.

If I am honest with you Toff, I am not seeing a win in any of those four games as I look at the fuxture list this fine spring morning.

And if we go into the semi final on the kind of run of form I am fearing, I think we will be a forlorn hope against Payet's high flying Hammers or the resurgent Mancs.

We need scalps to hang on the war lance and we need them quickly before moving on the biggest stage of all at Wembley.

And I don't think we are going to get any under the current regime.

That is why I think the club should act now and do sooner something what it inevitably will be doing not much later.

That is my current thinking on it anyway, Toff.

And I will be more than happy to be proven wrong ;)

Moshiri's first test at the end of the season, he's got a big decision to make before he makes millions available in the summer for transfers.

If he looks at the stats, and ignores Bill, there is only one decision to make, new manager needed.

That is 100% the manager in that scenario. It is his job to make sure the players can play that formation, so if they struggle then it means they aren't ready to do it, therefore it is bad management to play that formation and put pressure on the players.

He really shouldn't be given that long if we go out in the semi. Cut our losses, get somebody in to inject some life back into the players and rid the club of this stale stench of defeat and put the "cult" out of their misery.

That is a little concern right now for me. We could by all means lose against United, could get beat or draw vs Watford, could well lose the Derby, where does that leave us? If we won all three fantastic, bit of progress and some nice wins to boot, but if we struggle to pick up points then what?

We will win all the games away from Goodison I think

we won't beat united mate, last two games they have shown a bit of desire and can press - thats enough to see us off, same at the pit they will press we will fall apart, saints will bum us at goodsion to, the only one i feel any degree of confidence we can getb a result in is against watford as in the league they seemed to have settled for being safe
