I'm thinking a maximum of 9 points now until the end of the season, but anything is possible with this joker!

Last 4 league games look like being (with the palace game noit yet rescheduled) against Palace, Norwich, Sunderland and Leicester, - all who will be fighting for soemthing massive and will be well up for it, honestly can't see us getting anythign from those the lack of fight we show

United and the rs away - ditto - won't ghet anythign away at those two

leaves Saints, Bournmouth at goodsion and watford away - can see two wins their but saints will do us over as they have spirit

What Ijjy said Ash.

It's all to blame.

As Macavenie pointed out though you can't sack 14 players at once.

The performance against Arsenal was a dreadful one but it wasn't just down to RM. The players were awful.

So of course you can blame the players, just as much as we blame the manager. Martinez sets the team up but the team have to go out and follow their gameplan and react. It's too easy to blame Martinez for everything.
you can sell them though, and we are doing anything but sell them under this manager.

As i said its easy to just say blame the players because it removes reponsability from the manager. Makes it all convenient. But personally, i blame a player for not picking their man up, for ball watching, for messing about in possession etc. I don't blame them for 2 seasons of poor results to deflect away from the manager.

That is 100% the manager in that scenario. It is his job to make sure the players can play that formation, so if they struggle then it means they aren't ready to do it, therefore it is bad management to play that formation and put pressure on the players.

Contrast that change of tack at Goodison to what Koeman did yesterday in similar circumstances.

He fetched Tadic on to, in the words of Danny Murphy on MOTD 2 last night, "give Liverpool something else to think about".

What Bobby did was the exact opposite.

I was expecting to see Del or Niasse come out for the second half.

Instead we got an extra centre back in a game we had to chase :(

You know what @BlockHead, I am going to stop writing about Saturday......every time I write sommat I just get more depressed

think it can be firther confused by tactical decisions the manager makes as well though mate, for example when we went 3 at the back the players looked like they had no clue what or who was responsible for anything, is that then down to the players or is it down to the manager - for me it would be the manager not understanding that the players are not comfortable in that system and he hasnt realsied it
Not wrong there, I mentioned it previously but Baines didn't have a clue what he was supposed to be doing on Saturday. He ended up in the cm mid position so many times with Cleverly back tracking as a left wing back.

They looked totally lost, it didn't change the game whatsoever and was obviously visible to everyone but Martinez that 10 minutes in the 2nd half it wasn't working. Lukaku so bloody isolated yet nothing was done about that.

Guys, he is not getting removed now, or any time before the semi final. And that is even taking into consideration he is getting removed at all.
The earliest, should that happen, will be in the Summer.
Most likely scenario is he starts next season as Manager and we go from there.
Let's all chill and live in the real world shall we?

The world were blue noses are at each others throats because the club won,t do the right thing.

we won't beat united mate, last two games they have shown a bit of desire and can press - thats enough to see us off, same at the pit they will press we will fall apart, saints will bum us at goodsion to, the only one i feel any degree of confidence we can getb a result in is against watford as in the league they seemed to have settled for being safe

And their mind will be well and truly focused on the semi.

there are ways to criticise martinez but this is wrong, besic was having a nightmare and we were getting over-run in midfield...theres no point having an extra attacking player on if you cant/dont have the ball...too simplistic im afraid

OK, I'll be the huckleberry calling the elephant in the room.
R Martinez has lost the dressing room.
They know he's out of his depth (big time)....and so do I.

I stuck it in the match thread at the time, moving to 3 at the back also weakened the areas where Arsenal may have wanted to cross the ball into the box, which if we had conceded through a cross, it would have been suicidal management. Thankfully Arsenal like to walk the ball in most of the time.

but yeah, 3 at the back leaves the full back space open if you catch them on a counter, and its not like we concede goals that way....

Chelsea's players didn't look arsed for Mourinho, but who got the boot? And that's Mourinho ffs.

One or two bad eggs, fair enough. When an entire team underperform (through effort, ability or both) then there is only one man responsible.

Biggest one for me was seeign Jagielka (i think) and Sdtones both go then stop then go then look at each other for the same ball whilst the Arsenal player nearly got in because of it having been 15yards away initially, utter shambles

Also don't know if you saw Lukaku motioning to the bench and waving to ask after the formation change where he was suppoosed to be playing (think about ten mins into the half- now as he looked utterly confused, lack of communication was alarming - and honestly think that Martinez has everything figured in his own head and fails to actually pass it on to the players half the time

Think some players must now be thinking - jesus christ what the hell are we doing now and just facepalming as he does his little merry fm tweaks
