And their mind will be well and truly focused on the semi.

oh god mate that semi is now giving Martinez an excuse for the next 4 league games - he already kind of hinted at it with his latest interview stating players who don't perform will risk being dropped for Wembley - by inference saying that some players already had their mind on that semi final.

He will throw a few players under the bus over the next 3-4 games i am certain, Baines and Besic being the most likely one to suffer

Chelsea's players didn't look arsed for Mourinho, but who got the boot? And that's Mourinho ffs.

One or two bad eggs, fair enough. When an entire team underperform (through effort, ability or both) then there is only one man responsible.

I'm not saying RM isn't to blame. I think overall he's responsible.

But the players also have to take the blame.

Our supposed 'best squad in years' get off easy, IMO

If there is insight needed into how the manager is viewed by the players then one only has to listen/read the recent LUKAKU interviews. The kid cannot be more honest (well, he could, but I'm sure that'd be deemed poor form...). Same applies to recent comments/snippets from other senior players also...I'm not suggesting the dressing room has been 'lost', I'd say it was hugely fractured, it has to be if players are openly suggesting they should be top four, they ARE underperforming, they can't grasp how they're in the position they are, ('We need to start winning games because we cannot continue like we are now')...they pass it too much....there are times when it should be 'row Zedded'... we can't believe we're dropping points from winning positions...etc....

This is something I am surprised hasn't been much commented on much here over the weekend.

An interview with Rom went out on BT prior to Saturday's game and he came right out and said that "sometimes we pass the ball too much in midfield when we should be hitting it up the pitch......we have had meetings about this" (from memory, not verbatim).

I thought that was a damning indictment of Everton's current coaching policy when I played my recording of the game on Saturday night.

Makes you wonder who was at those meetings - just players? or players and manager?

either way when you have players approaching the manager to push for a change in the way the team plays it usually only ends one way

He's not getting the sack before the semi. That real world.
When he does go it wil be nice to also see the back of Ferguson,Lawrence , et all I just don't see what they actually do,if they all showed a bit of passion I am sure it would help, but I guess it's a bit late now.

Of course you are right my friend. My antagonisms toward a flawed, waaaaay out of his depth manager, are realistic enough to accept that reality.
But I cannot , I just cannot , suffer another season under this under-equipped manager.
I have said on many occasion; he's a snake oil salesman.
I just want shot of him.
He's tainting my love for Everton.

not gonna criticise ferguson as have to figure he works with Lukaku and thats the one thign this season that has seen a notiicable improvement both in the air and hsi first touch - both thigns ferguson had

You're right but there's not much that can be done really. Football in the 21st century is what it is. I only care about the end result, and the players must think, like I do, that Martinez's way isn't the right way. The cabin crew can give it 100% but if the pilot veers into a mountain, then ultimately it's not going to end well.

there are ways to criticise martinez but this is wrong, besic was having a nightmare and we were getting over-run in midfield...theres no point having an extra attacking player on if you cant/dont have the ball...too simplistic im afraid

Quite.

So fetching on an extra centre back would have gained us more of the ball ;)

Kudos for the analogy...spot on mate

The thing is though it isn't like that mate.

RM doesn't make the players make the mistakes they do.

When his style has worked this season (so away from home and in the cup) it's been because the players have given it 100% and it's come off.

Saturday was a dreadful performance. From both the players and the manager.

All too often it's just RM who gets the blame when it's quite obvious there's an issue throughout the squad.

Just think that should be pointed out.

The players can affect more on the pitch than RM can.
