How Martinez got that out of them in that first season is still amazing. Adapting a CB pairing of Distin and Jagilelka to play football is incredible. Mourinho would have shook his head and walked off laughing if he'd been asked to get that total from Moyes' ex-squad.

Quite rightly too! Pretty sure it's our best season in near on 30 years.

Martinez has had the best offensive season and also the best defensive record in the premiership for us.

He will get the combination right next season or the one after.

The good times are on the horizon and with the added cash this summer he will improve us ten fold .

I don't know what to say. This poses more questions than it does answers. The first one being why can't he get anywhere near it again?

the 72 points you keep referencing needs some context : we finished 5th...7 points behind 4th. It was all a bit 'meh' in the end wasn't it? A disappointing end I recall with limp performances at the real business end of that season?
