He starts with Del on the left and Lennon up front alongside Lukaku. It was great seeing balls hoofed up and Lennon using his height against the giant Smalling. Then of course, when we went 1-0 down, Martinez hauled off Del (who had the beating of his man, having got behind him a couple of times in the first half), put Lennon in his natural position and put the ineffective Mirallas on.

Wouldn't it had made more sense to start with Mirallas in the conventional central position and Lennon on the right, considering the latter has been so effective there lately? Then, if we had to, we'd have Del to come on and play an impact role (which he has proven to be very capable of).

I was at the game today and despaired when I saw him standing on the touchline for most of the second half with his arms folded. No tactical changes, no inspiring subs, nothing.

That'll have been Man Utd's easiest 1-0 win this season. I wasn't even excited in in the second half because I knew we wouldn't score. His time was up months ago, he needs to go ASAP.

Didnt think we could get any worse, we actually are. The thing is we as fans pay a lot to watch the blues, home and away....46 quid for today, and the players cant be arsed. He is reponsible, he manages the team and can see what we can but does the same thing week in week out, the quicker he leaves the quicker we can move on

For all the talk about revolutions we finished with 47 points last year.Fast forward a year later and after 30 games were on 38 points with our worst home record since the 1993/1994 season.Lies dammed lies and statistics eh.

Needs nine points - three wins, or two wins and three draws - to even match the desperate nature of last season.

With away trips to Anfield and the likely league winners.

I need to hear an argument from a Martinez supporter. I mean I cannot see how you have watched us pass the ball sideways for the last 2 seasons, with no invention or movement, and can see him turning this around. Not only that, but you want to give him the only decent money we have had to spend in years. I honestly want to hear it. It's based on what? I mean what glimmer of light are you seeing?

Did you actually watch the game? We spent most of the game lumping the ball to Lukaku.

At least we have a season and crack at silverware...how many other clubs can now say the same?

kin moaners on here.

Stop your bellyaching and get behind the team.

Well, I count at least 8.

Palace/Watford/West Ham/Man Utd/Liverpool/Spurs/Arsenal/Leicester

In a cup run of Dagenham/Carlisle/Bournemouth/Chelsea you seem fixated that it excuses the league. It doesnt. Not by a long shot and the fans have every right to moan.
Results/performances/positions/players are all going backwards and that is the FACT.
Yes we may win the cup, which would be great, but the bigger picture is at stake here. The club is regressing and the manager is responsible at large for this.

I would dearly love to win the cup, but it would really paper over the cracks and everybody, including you, knows it.

The very fact your basing your argument on something which still has at least two legs to run speaks volumes.

I'm not trying to say that figures don't matter BUT, you can prove anything you like with stats.

Martinez found us in the top 6 and has made us bottom half. That to me is going backwards. It's not like he was left a terrible squad either.

Say what you like about cups, but he's not won anything for us yet. We're in a semi, not a final so we're far from winning it, and our league form is not good enough.

Let's be honest his record on semi finals this season isn't impressive either...

15 points off 5th. You will eat your words:drunk:when Roberto wins 8 games in a row and the FA Cup:cheers:.

How did it go earlier in the season? 'We're only three wins from being 6 points from fifth, I call that a very decent season so far and when we 'click' we'll be comfortably in the top 7 mark my words'

The bellyaching - as you so eloquently put it - is almost entirely, certainly consistently aimed at the manager.

The crowd will predominantly support the players on the pitch, the same most definitely cannot be said for the manager.

Talking of the semi final, sure it's a one-off game and anything can happen, but I would be amazed if we got through it. We're just not very good and whether it's West Ham or Man Utd, we'll be playing a better team than us in the semi.

Yeah ok mate.
What's your point? He did sign Lukaku, Deulofeu and Lennon. He's done a lot to develop Barkley who, last I heard, has more assists than Delle Ali, who'll probably win Young player of the year.

We're in the bottom half of the table, so of course if you magically take away our top scorer's goals we'd be in a worse position.

You could do a similar sum for any team in the world and the hypothetical situation would be worse.
