You're encouraging an atmosphere of complacency by doing what he's doing. Players should be able to earn their place on merit. It sends a horrible message to the youth players coming through; look at Galloway for example. He can play his arse off until Baines is back, but once he is, off to the bench you go apparently.

Martinez wont do that to a player, and it's a strength not a weakness. What he does behind the scenes appears different to me. He's had issues with Distin and Mirallas and dealt with it. That's the way it needs to be done.
You only have to look at the post match threads when we've won and played well, a lot of lads disappear, when we get beat, the fume-o-meter is out in force.
