Roberto Martinez discussion

I can understand the frustration with the January window, but can you name ONE player bought by another prem team who would trouble our first choice XI? I can't, and that highlights that it's the norm for clubs not to do major business in January.

Are you suggesting that in the whole of the world, theres not a single player we could have brought in that wouldnt have cost a fortune and wouldnt have improved us?

Could you list these major highs?

He hasn't achieved anything yet, and please don't refer to changing a style of play as some kind of major achievement, especially when it can often be dangerous, boring and tedious, and has so far had a negligible impact upon results.

For someone supporting him you do a fair impression of wishing he wasn't here.

We did have some highs, how about 4 points at Old Trafford and the Emirates?
Not just the results, but the way we played at the Arsenal that first half, some of the best stuff in a long time.

We beat Chelsea at home, we beat United away, we went to Arsenal and outplayed the league leaders for 45minutes. We sat in a prime postion to secure a CL place.

I felt pretty high at all those points.

Clearly the last few months have taken the shine off those things, but they still happened and its wrong to suggest hes been an utter failure all season.

Nobody is suggesting he has been an utter failure all season, but it's also wrong to make out as if what you refer to above is any different to what Moyes was doing over the last five years. I felt high when we beat the crappest United team in living memory, but lots of clubs have done that this season.

I do think it's a bit sad that a win over the 7th best team in the country gets him support for life.

He hasn't won anything here, is the point. Promising start but not so super promising that if do lose the next 11 games I won't be worried.

But you know I'm pretty sure that was internet hyperbole and not an actual opinion.

To name a few...

- Beating Chelsea with a team consisting of Jelavic, Naismith and Osman.
- The WHU Away game
- 1st half against Newcastle
- Winning as many away games in the firs thalf of this season as we did all of last season
- First win at Old Trafford for 21 years
- Dominating the game at the Emirates
- The emergence of young players such as Barkley and McCarthy
- And I don't care what anyone says, we've played some great stuff this season

Hindsight tho.

As I said at another point, 2013 Martinez was superb, 2014 Martinez has stank the place out, IMO.

Ahh it's about Moyes is it?

Righto.

Salah, Mata, Matic, heck Monaco bought Traore in January and he literally did get on our starting XI!

I get your point though. Just wanted to be a div.

No, it's keeping it real. We beat United at Old Trafford, it was boss, but it doesn't mean that he can do no wrong, and that it has been concluded, without question, that he is the best man for the job.

I'm saying lets see how he does, some people are saying there is no need to see how he does, and that he is so good that they would still back him if he lost 11 games on the trot.
