Roberto Martinez discussion

No, it's too early to say. But he hasn't achieved anything yet, so I don't understand the unconditional cult like love for him.

You don't understand fans giving a manager who has been in the job less than 12 months their full support? There's a reason we're called supporters you know....

It's particularly due to the fact he isn't dour and Scottish ie moyes

But seriously there's no reason not to support Martinez,he's done a hell of a lot of good since he joined everton, cancelling out the bad stuff he's done

You sure you haven't already ran out of patience with him?

I have.

His crappy little soundbites, his overuse of the word diamond, I mean brown shoes? Who honestly wears brown shoes, hes done for this season, only Europe can save him in my eyes and even then I will look back at the what ifs.

He did outstanding work in the Summer, he filled holes, he bulked up the squad and he got rid of players that either didnt fit his system(Felli) or simply werent really good enough(Victor), but then he threw it all away with his major gamble in January, thats left us out of both cup comps and out of the race for CL that we were in.

Im sure he will pleased to know thats not the end for him, im willing to give him time, im willing to give him another whole season, another 2 transfer windows and im hoping he can put right the "wrongs" I think hes done, im fairly sure he doesnt give 1 either way, but thats where I stand, over to you Bobby.

Same could be said for Barkley. Or any girlfriend. But when you recognize greatness, even in its nascent stages, you (should) appreciate it instantly. There's no prize for recognizing greatness in hindsight.

Maybe some will find Martinez to be like a past love--quite interesting at first, but with great flaws later to emerge that sour your view. But I don't think this will be the case with him.

*Puts mask back on.

Come on goat, you're better than that. You gave Moyes unfaltering support until he jibbed us. Nowt wrong with that - I was the same. I never wanted Martinez, but he's won me over.

I gave him unfaltering support cos of where he took us from, Relegation fodder to Champions League.
Martinez is on course to take us from 6th to 7th, its not great in my eyes, but I did say hes not done, im willing to give him time to correct his wrongs, just like I gave Moyes time when we finished 17th.

By that same reckoning you could say Moyes took us from Champ's League, to Europa and then not even that. You know full well that Moyes hit the glass ceiling, I'm not sure why you're expecting Martinez to already have broken through it.

I give him my full support, but I'm not going to let it effect my assessment of him. And I wouldn't continue to give him my support if he underwent a run of 11 consecutive losses, I just can't understand what he has done to warrant that.

Im not, Moyes got the same amount of stick for sitting on his hands last Jan.

We hit some major highs early on this season, which is unusual for a team changing manager after so long. Naturally, our current rough patch is probably just one that was overdue, but takes the shine from our excellent start.

Could you list these major highs?

He hasn't achieved anything yet, and please don't refer to changing a style of play as some kind of major achievement, especially when it can often be dangerous, boring and tedious, and has so far had a negligible impact upon results.

I can understand the frustration with the January window, but can you name ONE player bought by another prem team who would trouble our first choice XI? I can't, and that highlights that it's the norm for clubs not to do major business in January.

We beat Chelsea at home, we beat United away, we went to Arsenal and outplayed the league leaders for 45minutes. We sat in a prime postion to secure a CL place.

I felt pretty high at all those points.

Clearly the last few months have taken the shine off those things, but they still happened and its wrong to suggest hes been an utter failure all season.
