Roberto Martinez discussion

Nah mate...Dave's fighting the good fight is all. I don't hang on his every word.

The Plotters do though, which is the why he has my utmost respect. It's called game...he's got it.

The Zealots have the absolute certainty of the true believer.
Some, on a good day, if they're in the mood, they might, just might admit to the possibility that the odd plotter may misguidedly 'only think' they are right...
They Know.
QED

They're going to get an awful shock when this Catalonian's bright new model army of philosophically sound, this phenomenal New Jerusalem of footballing excellence fails to come to pass...as it will, or is that won't...'I think'
but what do I know I'm a deluded plotter.

bang average bluffer I tells ya.

Don't know how you can claim to want a proper debate with a post like that.

Personally I would prefer it to be a proper debate, and whenever I've tried to go down that road it's met with OTT posting, so it doesn't seem possible and hasn't seemed that way in a long time...You yourself have posted inflammatory posts on Martinez.

I respect Dave for his endurance and game. He is fighting the good fight against those that would have had Martinez's head before we ever kicked a ball with him as our manager. Others may have gotten dragged into his fight along the way, and for them I'd suggest the ignore button.

Ultimately a couple of wins on the bounce will quiet things down. As they did in season 1 with Martinez. The origins of this thread bare witness to the overreaction to the negative with some of our fans who will never accept him as good enough...unless he proves otherwise. Even then they will pounce as soon as something goes slightly sideways.

Me saying Martinez has bottled it by not dropping Howard tomorrow is "inflammatory" ? LOL. It amazes me how touchy his fanatics get at the slightest perceived criticism. It's almost cultist.

"The Plotters"...blah...."good game"...blah..."they will pounce"...blah. Nonsense, all of it. You can't expect me to take your posts seriously after coming out with stuff like that.

All this "fighting the good fight" stuff is utter bollocks and smacks of cultism. It's far too personal this stuff you are coming out with about other Evertonians who have a different POV to yours. This is supposed to be about the fortunes of EFC, not winning some debate on the internet about who is right and who isn't.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that some fans worship Martinez - they are entitled to their viewpoint. But it seems to seriously bother those that do worship him that others don't share their opinion.

You're all as bad as eachother, you included mate. Just swerve the thread, it's not hard to not click on it, most of us are only here for the LOLs.

I love this thread.
It seems to perfectly encapsulate the internet, two wholly polarised sides who on a daily basis rip into the other side for being unable to see their points, whilst simultaneously doing exactly the same. Hilarious stuff, an all around circle jerk with people unable to acknowledge that there might be some validity to the differing opinions that they hold and that there isn't a right or wrong, only different shades of grey.
Whatever side of the argument you fall, whatever opinion you hold doesn't make you more or less of an Evertonian. To say so is just absurd.

As for Martinez, the man's done some good stuff and some bad stuff.
Up until now he's done enough for me to keep my support, but will need to make some changes in order to keep that support.
For me supporting a manager is based on two things.
Can he learn from his mistakes and make the right decisions based on those mistakes, and can he improve us.
If Martinez cannot learn from the mistakes he's made and will continue to make throughout his time with us, then he won't have my support any longer. Simple as that.

He's built quite a good team with just a few areas that need improvement, but needs to show that he's learnt how to break teams down that sit back. This next period of games will be key.
Top 7 finish is what I expect him to achieve as a minimum this year. The players are good enough to get there.

I like Roberto but he needs to set up more positively today than in recent games. Go for the jugular and if they win from one bouncing in off Defoe's gash earring then so be it.
