Roberto Martinez discussion

He's a talent, and Barca would be incredibly stupid not to bear him in mind. If he goes back there, and gets game time, then fair play to the lad. They're not just a giant, they're also his boyhood club.

My big fear is that they might fill his head with crap, tell him he's gonna play, and then just basically look to sell him. Serious question here; if they did that, would you be happy for us to just go 'sod it, here's £25m, give us him back' ?

Would be a weird one like.

If we have any sense we will just put our own buy back clauses into any deal they used to buy him back.

Buybackinception.

Haha, great shout. Not sure if we'd be in a position to bargain for that though. He's basically theirs if both them and he want it to happen, isn't he?

Unlikely, I would imagine, considering the price we paid, we probably bent over backwards to allow Barca as much "power" as possible.

And rightly so, 4.4m or whatever we paid is almost robbery.

Yep, if he was playing in The Championship right now, you'd be looking at double figures.

If we do have to lose him, then hopefully city will turn his head with 200k per week, make him tell barca to koff, and then we can play hardball.

basically yes, but you guys need to remember that Del loves it here, he wouldnt go back (sevilla experience) if everton wouldnt get moisture out of his departure. we are in good position what ever happends.

Barca are his life, he would prolly swim there if they ever said they wanted him back, this point should never be forgotten IMO.

Hmm, not so sure. Pretty sure that if Barca offered him 100k per week and guaranteed playing time, he'd be off like a shot.

We knew that when we got him though, and all in all, we've got a very good deal.

Maybe. It's hard to judge how an offer of £200k per week might make somebody forget their loyalties though. Do you reckon Rooney would have left us without a huge pay rise?

he came here because we love him and he loves it here, martinez being a catalan didnt make his decision harder either. enrique basically screwed him. but ofcourse, if barca wants him back he'll go...but that happends only if he has been magnificent...for a long period of time, so we would benefit from this anyways.

+ we actually dont know shoite about the contract.

utter tripe, how is it different to any other by-back clause in history?

Player is sold to another club gets a 3-4 year contract say, at the end of that contract the player can go where he wants. At any point before that if the Club want rid the can sell him. Yeah they have to give his old club first refusal but then the player has to agree to it as well.

At no point is the Player loaned. There are too many risks involved to even think about it as a loan, that's just lazy FIFAnaut Bell talk because you want to appear to have some sort of an insight or intelligence.

You read much about sales that include buybacks during the first 2 years of a contract? Or a veto option on a resale? This is how Barcelona's board conducts loans now and you see many of the big clubs doing similar since there's less incentive for the loaning club

In the end, the player will decide and if the damage is not permanent between club & player. I suppose that's why it pleased me to learn that Robert Fernandez is doing more than just watching from across the channel

It's not a loan mate.

It's a buy back option on a permanent transfer.

Simple as concept, you can repeat to yourself over and over that it's a loan but it simply isn't.
You're allowed to be wrong on t'internet you know

It's a loan where you have to pay. IF (a big if) the player accepts returning.

It's a gamble on your side and ours.

We profit regardless.
