Roberto Martinez discussion

I think the first time I was ever traumed in such a way was the Bonfire Night mauling away to Aston Villa where we got beat 6-2. Late eighties, Peter Beagrie's debut in the ace silver and white striped kit.

It was at that point where I realised that we were no longer boss. I had clinged onto it for a year or two but it was all over then.

Feeling your pain bra.
I remember thinking we'd win everything again when Cottee scored 4 on his debut Vs Newcastle.

Alas...

I hate to be a pedant but it was only the three. He did score the winner next game away to Coventry though and aye I thought we'd piss everything in front of us that season from that alone. But even in that Coventry game our man of the match was Southall.

I'm still gutted to the core about our fall from grace at such a terrible time, when the Premier League was about to kick in.

Of course - he got 3 in a 4-0 win.

Sunday afternoon, hardly any football on the telly ever so it was a big deal , we could go top of the league and Beagries debut after a decent fee if I haven't tried to kill all memory about that awful afternoon.

Oh yeah and David Platt being wanked off by ITV for being English and balding at 23 or something.

What a rough Monday that was at school.

Tranmere does run it close mind.

I never even realised we could have went top. Same as you I've tried to bleach it from my memory.

It was ITV right? So was it "The Match"?

Horrible Everton.

Yeah the match, Brain Moore I think. God it was brutal at least the Tranmere match I was half cut and could get wasted afterwards.

No way I could have done that with double maths on Monday morning.
