Roberto Martinez discussion

That's speculation about the players mindset, ambitions etc.

The fact is, they can't just take him back. So it's not a loan. Or a new type of loan.

“There is life beyond Barcelona.” That's his words.

It's speculation also to believe the player will resist a move to get him back to Barcelona. If he's being told he'd be involved in the first team squad (or told they want him back to then sell on again to another CL club) then how easy would it be to decide to stay at a club not offering that that?

I'm speculating, sure. But there's more logic to it than believing a player would turn a move like that down and stay with Everton.

You're just chatting pure tosh now. Just admit you were wrong along with FCBarca.

The consensus said it it's a permanent deal, you two argue some pseudo-loan. We win.

So you agree you were wrong then. Cool.
It's not about admitting wrong or right. It's a view of an agreement that is not as secure as any normal one we have with other players. There's no question about that. We simply dont hold all the cards.

I'm not arguing it's a psuedo loan at all. I'm stating a fact that the power in this situation is not with Everton FC. It's just not. The ultimate decision is with a player who you assume will definitely want to stay on here if or when his original club come knocking and seeking to exercise their buy back clause.

That's a world away from any deal where Everton control the players license and can feel 100% secure.

That Barcelona retains significant leverage with regards to regaining Deulofeu's services is eminently suggested by the transfer fee Everton paid. When something sounds too good to be true (i.e. 4.5million quid), the readings on my 'suspicion spectrometer' spike

I'd lose a fair bit of respect for him in that scenario to be honest, especially if we're on the cusp of CL our self at that point

utter tripe, how is it different to any other by-back clause in history?

Player is sold to another club gets a 3-4 year contract say, at the end of that contract the player can go where he wants. At any point before that if the Club want rid the can sell him. Yeah they have to give his old club first refusal but then the player has to agree to it as well.

At no point is the Player loaned. There are too many risks involved to even think about it as a loan, that's just lazy FIFAnaut Bell talk because you want to appear to have some sort of an insight or intelligence.

See, this bloke gets it!
