The 7th place trophy is not to be sniffed at
Just watched the first goal today, if we could play like that every game then martinez could well be the manager he threatened to be two years ago. It looked like a fantastic team with great chemistry, keep them together and we will have a hell of a team.
long road ahead but if our last two home games are anything to go by, Roberto has truly turned himself around. Down the boro and this might just turn into a memorable season.
hopefully we can go on a great run, but i know as soon as we start making headways lukaku will get a terrible injury.
I've just written this short letter (provisional) and I'm thinking of sending it off to the club:
To Roberto Martinez (c/o Everton FC),
Dear Roberto,
thank you so much for agreeing to be our manager two and a half years ago, triggering what has now become widely known as the rebirth of the blues. You led us out of a dark period in the club's history (indeed, many fans now refer to that period as our Dark Ages - a time when we had wandered far away from our heritage as a team renowned throughout the land as the leading proponent of what became known as Scientific Football).
You were left an ageing squad full of players who trembled in fear with the ball at their feet; yet you transformed these wrecks and gave them back their dignity as footballers, allowing them to realise their God given talents which the previous manager had forbidden they display. More than that though, you have overseen a revolution in attitude that sees our players wanting to dominate the opposition, no matter who they be or where we play them. This brand of swashbuckling football is now our trademark, our stamp. The rest of the nation have begun to sit up and take note of the rapier like attacks and imperious defending. They know that this is a club with a manager and young squad on the cusp of something truly remarkable.
So Roberto, once again I commend you and I thank you on behalf of all at GOT for your evangelising of the beautiful game, and your determination to see it practiced at a club that is no stranger to the tradition.
Regards,
davek

...with a little bit more cash (say £15M more net per summer) he'd win us trophies. No question.Position is not the greatest importance here at the moment, its style and substance and the collective team he has produced that is capable of going toe to toe with most PL teams. The strides forward we have taken in personnel and youth is already setting us up for better things in the future. Its not a case of starting slowly and being totally out of the picture come Christmas then going on a unpressured run to claim 5th,6th yet being miles away from 4th with a team that we all knew could never compete. He has started his building process with style IMO and has a number of youngsters rather than old limited veterans leading the way and hopefully taking us to a brighter and possibly a future with a trophy or 2. Forget our position and look at the bigger long term picture and we have some proper gems currently wearing the Everton shirt.
Ha Ha Ha.We need to be beating the best, not just the rest, otherwise we're just repeating what Moyes did.
I took away my like as it looked well wrong...got the same paranoia as you...one of Del or Rom.
send him a lock of your hair too.
I think we can win the league cup this season with this squad....with a little bit more cash (say £15M more net per summer) he'd win us trophies. No question.
