Roberto Martinez discussion

He's been fit for a while. Been on the bench at least a couple of times.

Cleverley was obviously thrown on to basically do what McCarthy had been doing. He's very similar in style when played there.

I personally don't think that sub had much of an effect on how things went there.

Sorry mate I'd have to disagree. Think Gibson would offer a bit more on the ball and can calm the game down a bit more.

It was it is though, a point is a point even though it should have been 3

It probably was mate. You can see the logic, sit back, hit them on the break and score a third to kill it off.

Sadly we tried to do too much with one pass, which, on a windy day, wasn't too bright.

Bit of a reality check as much as anything.
I am fuming though.
not nice to lose 2 points at the death. My anger is at the ref, tbh. It was unjustified time added on.

As you said earlier: the Boro game is more important. We need hope that a trophy is coming our way. Two more points in this league we have only a slim chance of getting a top 4 spot in is not really bothering me, tbh.

We've had that a few times this season, one good 45min performance and one poor one, we've just varied it as to which half we forgot to get out of the dressing room!

Perhaps explained in part by a young side but something we definitely need to work on.

One thing we do seem to have worked on is our attacking corners, they were generally good today! Now just for the defensive ones....

it was the same with Sunderland.

We were pegged back there from two goals up before kicking in again.

To be fair I won't celebrate an Everton win until about a week after it has ended.

Need to make sure it won't get replayed or any other outlandish thing that could happen to us.

That's the common sense approach. They need to take responsibility for that today, all of them.

But still, it's not like he brought 2 defenders off.

Definitely a bad result, but it's something that the younger players can learn a lot from. I think Deulofeu was a bit half-arsed second half and helped to pile pressure on the back line.

The ref and coach driver i heard he was revving the engine and it put tim off.

Leaving Kone on after 70 minutes was a real head scratcher

All I will say is that those of us who brought up reservations about our defensive capabilities following Sunderland have been somewhat vindicated after today

My stance on Martinez remains the same today as it was following that match

Top 4? Why do people think this? There's already 4 better teams than us by a mile who will get those spots

Exactly right we are not learning.

Yeah it was a like for like sub, just wrong in my opinion.

They were doubling up on del when got close and even their left back had the best of the battle, him and kone could have sacrificed today

On reflection, today's result doesn't really matter. We are not going to be relegated and we still have a chance at the Europa. Beating 'Boro is more important than our league position...and I think we have a good chance of being more than competitive against what is a pretty daunting opposition..
