Roberto Martinez discussion

Just made an epicly big post taking that apart, then deleted it because its all just so necessary, it doesn't take a moron, let alone a genius, to identify the bias and agenda in that response of yours, it certainly doesn't take much pointing out.
Bottom line...
Your being a hypocrite.

If you think that Martinez is doing a tremendous, near faultless job this season, yet Moyes was drifting along with his endless problems of tactics, subs, attitude, incompetence etc etc...

We are a position lower than last year and that is the bottom line. Win our games in hand and we are on par for another Moyes level of finish.

Either Moyes is actually [Poor language removed] and your overrating Martinez, or Martinez is quality and your underrating Moyes. Can't be both, its such a similar season to last season, they can only have proven themselves pretty much equal with that squad.
Martinez certainly has the potential to exceed that, but until he does, they have both achieved the same for us.

Personally I think both are quality. You think one dosses about getting everything wrong, the other is pure quality, yet they have achieved the same thing during their time here so far, yet one is a success, the other a failure.

Hypocritical mate, sorry but it is.

Mate, all you seem to do is have a dig at people if a comparison is made with Moyes. You actually jump down peoples throats. I don't know if you are on a mission but it is really getting tedious now and has been all bloody season. Please just join in and debate on the merits of the team or players and stop being a vigilante. Just try.

That's the top and bottom of it.

I've said it on this thread and umpteen others that holding the view 11 years of existing in the division amidst mostly dire football (yes it was) and choking almost every time it mattered represents something acceptable for this club is peoples prerogative.

But many of us simply don't see it that way at all.

If you've seen the club winning stuff, challenging and not being perennial chokers no matter how often people stamp their feet saying otherwise - it is what it is - an almost unrivalled cack period in our club's history.

You accusing people of obsessing re Moyes is marvelous.

Anyone who describes Moyes tenure as being a period of 'unrivalled cack' is a bad gobshite who doesn't know what he is talking about, end of.

Moyes reached his limit with Everton and it was time for a change. I hope Bobby eclipses Moyes achievements, but he has yet to do so, and I won't congratulate him for doing so before he has, because that would also be bad gobshite behaviour.

McGeady did play well, but why bring off Deulofeu who was ripping Fabio to shreds? Or Mirallas who was still a threat?

I thoughtDeulofeu was pushed off the ball far too easy. I'll have to watch the highlights later but that's what I thought. He done well creating his goal and scoring, well done for that.

Barkley sub was far too late.

Taking Deulofeu and Mirallas off was a bad call.

Taking Deleufeu off was certainly a strange call.....but Mirallas was worse than useless today.

I was wanting him hauled off earlier.

But as McGeady was a straight swap for Gerald it is hard to see him coming on in Mirallas's stead.

Then McGeady proceeded to pose a greater threat than Mirallas so it is impossible to call McGeady's entrance to the game a "horrible substitution".

I do agree with you that Barkley should have came on earlier but we are just splitting hairs there....when he did come on for Ossie I am sure both you and me were united in applauding the move and we never thought it a "horrible substitution".

At the end of the day the substitutions worked.....and that is all I am concerned about ;)

I'm gonna call Barry and McCarthy :

THE UNSUBSTITUTIONALS

i see games like today as the ideal opportunity to give barry a rest that a person of his age needs imo. But that's just me, i think we're good enough to spank such teams and should set out more attacking in about a 3rd of our games. if gibson was fit i'd like to hope it would be a different matter, but doubtful it would.

On the subject of Martinez's subs, did I not see Barkley and McGeady involved in the build up for our winning goal today?

You did indeed, Chico.

But as that doesn't fit in with the current fashion for bashing Roberto, that fact is being expunged from the match record :)

I think Martinez had planned he double sub before we scored, and before the goal it was the right idea as both had been pretty poor. Although I'd maybe have staggered taking big wingers off by 5 minutes or so to keep some shape.

However once the goal went in he should have given Deulofeu another 10 minutes at least.

Ossie should have been hooked on about 60th minute, lost count of the number of times he broke up our attacks by losing the ball second half.

Honest to god a lid a couple of seats away from me was calling Martinez a useless Spanish cnut after about 10 minutes, was screaming for us to go long and said to one of his mates at about the 65th minute "we should have got Weir in"

You couldn't be further from the truth just because a piece is coherent and effective doesn't add up to what you state.

Just been called a gobs..... a few posts up hope you've issued the same missive to the culprit.

I'll give due consideration to your request to follow only what you want me to post.

Just considered it .... the answer is no.

Unreal. After a decade of safety first football you'd think people would be pleased with how things are panning out, however maybe some are being blinkered by the sh!tes light-speed upturn this season and expecting the same here. Personally I love the style Martinez is imposing on the play, so long has he's cunning in the transfer market <you reading this Bill?> we'll kick on from there.
