Had precisely zero wide men on the bench tonight, Peanuts is proving injury prone nowadays, Mcgeady is a squad player, atsu same, leaves kev as a lock down starter in one slot, and then a huge drop in quality the other side mate, nastatic is the answer at cb, richards on a season loan to provide more cover for rb/cb, and a winger on loan
The number of games we had to play osman, barkley, nais and other wide last season should highlight the area as a problem, something we havent boosted number wise simply replacing del with atsu

think the majority of us would have gone with jagielka and distin at the start of the season tbh, especially as stones wasn't exactly great in pre-season (at RB admittedly).
but yeah, after arsenal it was evident that stones needs to come in for one. let's just hope it's just a case of jags being tired from the WC.

What has he done since he took over to begin the fazing out of Distin? Why are we two days from the transfer window closing with only 3 PL standard CB's? Why do we still not have proper cover for Coleman?
Let's see who he buys and how the defence performs this season

None of them have anything to do with the defence, In fact two of the three never play anyway

Martinez is defensively naive, attacking can't fault him, if he doesn't invest in another CB, then i'm sure s*** will hit the fan. We don't need a CB that can play RB either, we need a left footed CB that's no nonsense, puts his body on the line, physically strong and has decent distribution. Play Stones with Distin or Jags with *INSERT CB NAME HERE*. Jags also needs to be more vocal or be stripped of his captaincy with either McCarthy or Barry taking it. I'll most probs get bashed for criticizing Roberto but the truth hurts.

If people want to crack on Martinez for our CB issue, then I'd say they're not entirely being honest about things.
Ask any Evertonian what area we needed help in this summer and before the season started and 95% of them would have told you another striker and another midfielder.
I don't recall too many people at all saying we needed to sign another CB. In fact, I don't recall anyone saying that. Yeah we had a poor end to the season last year but based on last season as a whole, Jags/Distin did well.
Who saw this coming and to the level that we're seeing?
Answer: No one.
