Roberto Martinez discussion

I think a lot of the anger stems from higher expectations too. Last year, it's a new manager and things take time to come together. This year, Martinez has gone out and signed a big name new striker and at least 5th place is the minimum (to some if not all). Things will come round, three games doesn't decide the whole course of a season.

Provided we don't sell someone in the next 24 hours we can no longer use the excuse of not having any money to spend as 33 million is a fair spend for all bar a handful of teams plus big contracts for a few of the up and coming lads.
My worry is that we maybe spent to much on Lukaku and could have spread the money over 3 players including a goalkeeper.Martinez transfer dealings are still to be proved with money being wasted on Robles,Alcaraz and Kone ( I know he has not really played but I doubt even Roberto sees his long term future at Everton).

We will draw at West Brom and get smashed as per at Anfield

I predict 3 points from 5 games

Robles was cheap and still has promise, Alcaraz was free and still provides good cover for fourth choice cb, Kone hasn't even had a chance yet to prove himself... He did alright in a [Poor language removed] Wigan team and we didn't know we were getting Lukaku at the time. His form when he signed was a Damn sight better than Jelavics. He was relatively cheap as well.

here we sit, only out of the relegation places on goals scored.

And yet still some claim no crisis and are happy to let jags and distin concede a minimum of 2 a game, with a half-fit, half interested lukaku undroppable up front.

Stop worrying mate, Martinez is the best manager in the world and will turn this defense around like he did at Wigan

We have one of the best four managers in the country. No question in my mind that if Martinez was playing with the same finances as Wenger, Mourinho and Pellegrini he'd be certain to win a PL title and qualify for the CL each season.

He's made a massive error with his preseason schedule, but more than anything he's been let down by a central defence unit who have been criminally negligent at the beginning of this season. If I were him I'd be drawing a line under those two right now, because they were hopeless at times last season too. They may improve but they'll always let him down with lack of concentration. They are not now top defenders and never will be again.

If my reputation rested on them as his does, I'd take urgent action.

Agreed I'd even consider putting Galloway in there if he does the unthinkable and brings no new centre half through the door.

I genuinely have never seen a worse pair of centre halves start regularly for Everton on current form.

I honestly do not put the pre-season schedule down to El Bob. The World Cup was a huge factor in late decisions being made re pre-season games. Newcastle took a place that we were offered on that Oz/NZ as El Bob thought that would be too much travelling, and he sure as sh1t did not want to go to Thailand and actually Chang did not want us involved in a game largely promoted and sponsored by their biggest Thai business rivals either... Whichever bean counter sanctioned that trip should be ousted !!
