or when he was asked at the recent press conference about his maturity now as a person and player and he replied "if you saw me on a day to day basis you might question how mature I am"...or words to that effect.
He just is not a captain. But I guess we are stuck with him in that capacity so complaining about it is futile
 
Jags has been a solid captain but the level of performance he has put in over the last 6-12 months hasn't been good enough. Stones for me has to be first choice cb, he's captain material. Confident on the ball, leads by example, can tackle, can head the ball, can pass. The sooner he cements a first team spot the better.

We should give Besic and Gibson a go in the cup. No point having this squad with an abundance of central midfielders if we are only going to play Mccarthy and Barry. The amount of goals we've conceded is piss poor when you think we play two defensive midfielders and have the majority of possession most games. As a defensive unit we have been utter tripe. Our attacking play IMO is up there with the best in the league.
 
I've barely questioned Martinez so far, but he really has got to shoulder the blame now. His failure to even try and strengthen the defence in the summer looks damning - specifically his failure to bring in backup for Coleman.
 
Some say Martinez needs to change...just a little bit, me for one. I'm not saying go totally Moyes-tastic and get the knife he took to City from the boardroom cutlery draw. Just get a bit more pragmatic, instill a bit of defend from the front and above all put a bit of go and intensity into all the passing and possession.

But just like Moyes, not only won't change, but can't change... all he can do is try and get better and better players to make his system work better, which is not the end of the world, this will get us 4th, maybe not this season, but soon, but to be challenging for 1st/2nd you have to be able to Attack and Defend, with the same 11for 90+ mins / 38 games
 

Is actually starting to look clueless atm never thought I would say it but give me a scrappy 2-0 win under moyes than the [Poor language removed] we have seen all season.

The fact he hasn't touched our defence despite knowing the likes of distin and Hibbert are finished is a disgrace

Youd have pissin moaned had he bought defenders and not got Lukaku and Etoo in..

Give it a rest lad you can do a Utd and buy 59 strikers all you want but if you can't organise a defence your knackered. Everyone with eyes saw we needed a RB cover for coleman, everyone saw the 6-3 against Chelsea and the need for another CB but he did nothing as he is terrified of making a defence as he couldn't do it at wigan. He's hoped to have used moyes well regimented defence for aslong as possible which is fair enough but distin is finished but wasn't replaced.

You forget we had the 3rd best league defence. I dont think anyone expected it to go even before the season started..

Yeah and when it was clear last season we needed a striker what did he do? He went out and got Lukaku in on loan

It was clear this season we needed atleast 1 defender in but did he get one in? No as he isn't confident enough of making his own defence as it's not his strong point.
 
I see little point in sacking him in the future but he needs to sort out his tactics sharpish! Attacking football is all well and good but when our defence is making individual mistakes over and over again something has to be done. I'd drop Distin as that's 18 goals conceded this season when he's played. Stones and Jags at the back.

I would see a point if there was any danger at all of getting involved in a relegation scrap

And the other thing is he shows all the signs of being a very stubborn manager I could quite easily see him not changing tactics irrespective of how perilous things become.
