Very well put i think even the biggest martinez fans have to admit he has lost something this season.
You get to see how good managers are when times are tough and i just hope he is strong enough because wigan went down waving the white flag
don't mind him making a mistake so long as he learns from it. this needs sorting and soon though

We ain't Wigan mate...they had nowhere near the talent we do. It's been a rough start, but we've played some boss stuff along the way.

The thing I'm worried is that last season if it was 0-0 or we were 1-0 down we wouldn't panic, we'd play the game and consider our options and slowly ramp things up and score. Now if we lose it's like we go 'overload' on Football Manager', everyone goes forward and everyone attacks and we leave ourselves so open. I don't know if it's a mental thing or what.

It might well be time for the Jags-Distin partnership to be broken as first choice. I'm just not sure which of Jags or Distin should be dropped

The man needs to be able to learn from his mistakes.
For me there is a time to shut up shop and right now Bobby and or the players cant do this.

did massively balls up pre-season like.

Also probably should've brought in a younger, better left sided defender to partner stones.

Deffo needed a back up right back too.

Seems he doesn't have any defensive coaches at the club at all.

Also needs to stop playing Jags and distin together, and also osman completely.

we'll go on a run at some point and hopefully pull some wins together, 4 points from the next two games will be a massive statement and we're perfectly capable of doing that, because, despite how bad our defence is, it's still a hell of a lot better than the next two teams we've been playing, we haven't spent £50m like they have to try (and fail) at addressing the issue.

the annoying thing is - we have a young squad with a lot of potential - these aren't the players making the mistakes - it's your howard's, jagielka's and osmans. these are suppose to be the experience to help these youngsters, they need to pull their effing finger out because they've set a terrible example.

people always slate joel and say he gives them the shakes, howard has always done that to me as well and he's in his mid 30's, he had a great season last season when i thought he was finished and followed it up with a great WC - but he's started the season poorly (bar wolfsberg) - i really hope last season wasn't a one off.

no idea what martinez was thinking with some of those starting options though, i'd encourage a bit of rotation for today and tuesday, but some of the options were wrong, as was the decision not to sign a backup RB. stones should be our first name at CB.

For those who are not aware, wigan got relegated because they fail to address their season long individual defensive mistake at the back.

I'm not saying we'll get relegated, but the similarity is frightening.

no mate, just no. everton have shipped a few goals in 5 games does not have a frightening similarity to us - why do people not look at his stint at swansea as well when they talk about martinez and defence?

i must ask

because he never managed them in the toughest leauge in the world. The only other team he did where crap defensively.

Both Everton and Liverpool can't defend, now.

The derby's going to finish like 13-12. With Liverpool getting their 13th in the last minute from a dodgy penalty decision, of course.

There's holes everywhere the back 4 get no support from the middle. And as for tactics - He takes off a right back and replaces him with no one at all - and they promptly score.

Moyes would never have allowed 13 in 5 games and I'm no Moyes lover.
We conceded a very similar goal at leicester in the last minute, again after he'd changed the RB position and they ended up with a man left of centre totally unmarked.

Bunch of bad bells. Nothing wrong with the coaching. Its a simple case of senior pros having utter brainfarts and stupid errors which have cost us every single time.
Howard communicates for that first goal, no issue.
Howard [Poor language removed] catches the ball for the second, no issue.
Osman hears the 30,000 people screaming man on as he dallies with the ball outside the box inside of falling off the ball like icecream of a cone on a hot day, no issue.

Don't you think there's a duty of team mates to let someone know? Don't players shout the famous "man on" shout anymore?

In any event, losing the ball in an innocuous position in midfield shouldn't be leading to us being so easily cut wide open. The fact is that at the moment we are very badly organised defensively. As others have said on here, it's not just a question of the back four making mistakes, it's the lack of cover being provided for all the back line.
