Roberto Martinez discussion

He may have similar philosophies to Rodgers but that's where the comparison ends. English is RM's 2nd language for a start, if he comes across cheesy it's hardly his fault. Whenever I here him he doesn't cringe me out the way Rodgers would and as for the nice guy image, RM clearly is a nice guy. I don't think Rodgers, who sleeps with trannies and is so vain he spent a fortune getting his teeth done, is in the same ball park as RM

Got his tactics pretty much spot on tonight. City huffed and puffed a lot but, because we were solid defensively and Howard had a good game, they didn't cause us all that many problems.

A few people there tonight were moaning about the fact that Mirallas didn't get on the pitch, but, for once, I think that was the right call. Bringing Kone on was a bit weird though.

9/10 for the manager tonight.

Pretty much
Has he though, just stumbled on it and for pragmatic Cup-tie / Wembley reasons is swallowing the bitter fruit of 'pragmatistic anti philosophy', with a smile until January is over and the Wembley thing decided for good or ill.

Little doses of homeopathic defensive pragmatism taken once per game won't hurt his philosophy, in fact will make it stronger, were as a massive does will kill it.

Keep taking the pills Bobby.

I think he brought kone on to try to give Rom help up top in terms of hold up play. When we were under pressure we'd clear it up to Rom who would be isolated with 3 city players on him. While kone himself hasn't been playing well, having him on the field gives Rom some breathing space

But he played Kone wide right. Actually I thought his subs were very poor. Neither added anything when we were desperate for relief from City's attacks.

I thought we were top class in the first half and if only Yarmalenko were playing on the left we would have more power, pace and goal threat. Ossie has skill but he's no longer athletic enough to get a game for a top team.

Let it happen. I normally do not appeal to the greater power in the Universe. But this time, I pray to thee. Get Yarmalenko to sign for us, Superman.

Didnt say kone was effective just my guess as to martinez's logic for bringing kone on. Don't think kone was an effective sub but thought peinaar did well relieving some pressure even if it was through being fouled, etc. I'd say his subs were 50/50 today. Yeah Osman is not a stage of his career to be a starter but he'll still be useful this season as a squad player. I think cleverly would've taken his place if fit

Pienaar slowing things down getting drawing fouls didn't help?

I have said on numerous occasions wins the cup, he can do what he wants in the league, in fact if he wins the cup I'll celebrate like everyone and enjoy it on here, then probably leave the forum for a while.

On the last point, I'm not sure I understand. How should I judge the manager?

LOST. FOR. WORDS.

I think he's very similar to Rodgers, Talks rubbish in the media, comes across a nice guy, very cheesey, has a philosophy on football he is yet to prove he is capable of implementing, gives youth a chance (Sterling, Ibe and Flannigan)

Now it's Martinez = Brendan Rodgers

In an attempt to tarnish the Everton manager in anyway you can.

Fuming that Everton kept a clean sheet against the best striker in the world (Aguero) and against a team that spent > £60 million last summer. Who've only failed to score at home in 99 matches. To Everton.

BAWK.

Do you think I'm fuming about that result?
