Roberto Martinez discussion

It's just not all coming up Milhouse at the minute.

We've hit bad form. It happens. We don't have to like it.

But we should at least appreciate that our expectations are (rightly) raised and that's why we're currently monumentally frustrated.

We've got a good team, it'll come good even if it doesn't feel like that tonight. Or after Saturday. Maybe next month...

Stop with the Gung Ho approach.

We commit too much, every team has hit us on the counter this season. Barry used to drop back, and McCarthy could just hold when attacking, and we'd still be secure, but this season that philosophy has just vanished, and Barry, not being the quickest can't get back anymore, every game is the same, except for WBA, the central midfield doesn't do enough, and well, as much as I like Naismith, he's a try hard lad, but he's a Striker, so he can't recreate the job that Barkley would, and it's exposing us every game.

Tonights a write off, i wouldn't even worry about that.

It'll come good, but the Martinez bandwagon does needs a reality check, scoring goals, GREAT, conceding 17 goals in 7 matches, well that's shambolic.
Naismith is not the problem.

I really hope so.

something didn't look right against Leicester, I got a glimmer of hope against when clearly our legs just gave way. But since then every game as been a struggle whereby every time the opposition breaks I have a feeling they'll score.

he needs 3 clean sheets in his next 3 games, even if it means shutting up shop just to get that confidence restored in the defence, build on that rather than trying to outscore the opponent
I think a change in personnel is what I'd go for. Gibson lying a bit deeper and dictating play from there and covering the defence, lightening the load on McCarthy, Coleman back in and giving the side balance. I think Pienaar in front of Baines is vital at the moment as well. Hopefully he's fit soon.

but i can point to that.

you are right that there is more space, but the majority of the goals have come from stupid moments. Then games get lost, confidence drops and it snowballs.

you want to jump up and down and cry that its a pointer to some bigger picture and possible disaster, but you can no more point to tactics and fault of the manager with certainty than I can say my point above is a fact.

Bottom line for any reasonable fan should be don't run around like a little girl shouting OMGOMGOMG when your team has a bad patch of form.

the goals conceded stat is horrible reading for sure, but I will give some credit and show some patience for the manager and bunch of players that entertained us last season.

I've seen the worst of everton, travelling around the country hoping for a draw, never mind a win so don't refer to me as someone who is over reacting or a little girl

The manager and players are up for criticism regardless of what they did last year, last year was then, this is now.

There is a massive hole where our midfield used to be, the fullbacks are being exposed and there is little or no support from the wingers. This issue is not down to form, this is tactics

This issue needs to be addressed

Fan stating as fact, what is their opinion, and demanding the manager react to this.

I know you don't think thats what you are doing, but thats exactly it.

I haven't said the manager and players shouldn't be criticised.

We should go 4-3-3 IMO. We've basically been playing with 4 players in attack. One of Gibson or Besic could slot into midfield and we could lose a winger.

Said this on Twatter, but in regards to people being upset at Martinez's optimism following tonight: there's no way he is that jovial to the players. He protects them in the media (the journos will be hard enough) and I would imagine behind closed doors the players know where he stands. Yes, we have issues that we have to address pronto. But this is the same manager and same team that we were all lauding a few months ago. Bum the RS on Saturday and roll on.

How would I like him to react yo this??

Ensure we keep at least 2 clean sheets in the next 3 games by ensuring the back four is fully protected. If this means a change of personnel or formation then so be it, as long as its evident that a problem is being addressed

The performances so far this season haven't been a patch on last years. No where near good enough. Poor against Leicester, poor end to Arsenal, poor against Chelsea, disgraceful tonight. What are the chances of us winning against the [Poor language removed]?

Reasonably good, I would say.

They are as bad as we are.

This is football, nothings ensured. He could be doing a great job behind the scenes. We might play a great game on saturday.

However Distin might still decide to kick the ball off Jags head into the back of the net in the last minute.
