Roberto Martinez discussion

I'm just one of those who think he is building something mate, so he does get a bit of grace from me. He still gets the rest of this season, and the first couple of months of next season, if things aren't picking up results wise by then, I'll be questioning if he should stay.
I think he will come under pressure if we don't start converting performances into wins soon. And by soon I go along with your timescale

Ah ok, I forgot you are still living on his first season, left myself wide open there.

Let's look at his win rate over the last 18 months, because, as they say in football, you are only as good as your last game, so let's not be kopite like and live on former glories from yesteryear, in fact let's keep it to the last 12 months maybe? And I'm talking league games, not games v Dagenham and Redbridge.
Or the last 16 games. 7 wins - or 44%.....

....well, at least I haven't thrown Man City's figures, which would be just as relevant as using Wigans.

Why, did he manage them as well?

Stop being such an arse. You know exactly what people reference in relation mate, you're bigger than that, yes? His lack of setting teams up defensively was as apparent at WIGAN as it is here...yet, REALLY oddly, it doesn't seem to concern you at all. You deem it null because you cannot see a single issue with his management style.

It's weird.

At the moment, considering the talent of the players we have, this is the most underachieving Everton squad in my 40 years of watching us.

So you agree he has assembled a decent squad? All he needs is for his younger players to get more experienced. At a tender age they are still a little cavalier. I really really wish we could spend some decent money on this team because we are on the cusp of being very very good. Times like this I envy the spending power of Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and a few more because they can add at will ready made experienced class players....we can't.

I agree mate - the difference is that the experienced ones on here can see a team a very exciting one and one which holds no ear. Yes it makes mistakes and it's frustrating but those who think back to 1983 also saw the same. Be a little patient with a little luck this season could be yet pretty special

He has made some great signings and real bargains too.

Besic, Cleverley, Del and Mori even looking like a snip at 9m in today's market. Really would love it to turn around for him.
You can also see players develop under him as well, for instance wasn't the best game from Rom today but he has come on so much from a player that rarely held the ball up and couldn't last the full game.

Ross still has his flaws but he gives it away a lot less in our half than he used to and his vision/decision making is much better. Besic was talented but was very poor positionally but much improved this season etc...

There is so much to like about hm as a manager...we just need to figure out a way to turn some of these draws into wins!

There's no evidence of this at all, quite ridiculous to say so.

Poor and incompetent yes, but corrupt? unless you have evidence to prove such an assertion it's wrong to say so.

Hiddink admitting to asking the referee for an extra minute means the referee has taken it under consideration.

Once the game hits 77:00 the referee thinks "I'll let them have a bit longer". They then get a couple of attacks in and score.

The referee fixed the game.

I like your legal approach in your posts with to things to do with this club, but this is corruption, pure and simple.

Unless, of course, Hiddink did not actually admit to asking the referee for more time.

So the question needs to be asked, why did the ref not add another minute on when Chelsea scored when terry jumped in the crowd and 'wasted' a minute if time, yet blew up virtually straight away from the restart. Because Roberto didn't ask him or he had another agenda??? Makes you winder.

Tbf it is always stated as a minimum of extra time added, the annoyance is that refs often seem to be inconsistent in whether they add any extra on again and what for.

Tbh having the timing done separately would make things an awful lot clearer and take away any suggestion of corruption - might also mean that we'd get 90mins of playing time as iirc it only averages out at 70 odd.
