Roberto Martinez discussion

Just because he's had half a good season he's a great manager? Let's give it time eh - no doubt he's working wonders at the minute but even Brendan Rodgers nearly won the league once, and look how that turned out.

I agree on this, but you can can say the same about Roberto, some seem to think he is a great manager but based on what?
One thing i would say about Ranieri is he hasn't got any stand out top class players to get his side punching high, unlike Roberto and Rodgers had. Jamie Vardy is good but he is no Lukaku/Suarez, if the present Leicester City squad was being managed by Roberto they would be lower than we are.

3 years left on his contract. Why would we let him go for anything less than Sterling or Suarez money?

We could let him go for £100 million but we won't get as good a replacement than him. Name me a better forward who isn't playing for a top CL team? There is none which is why we'll have to inevitably sort out our defence/goalkeeper next season as we won't have his 25+ goals to save our skins.

That's for me (providing we get the takeover and bill goes) means it could be a make or break season for Roberto in that his job would no longer by guaranteed thus he would have to work on his weaknesses or results could dictate his end under business savy owners.

Agree but in the summer distin & Alcatraz were correctly deemed as
Surplus to requirements. This meant a
Centre half WAs non negotiable so we signed mori who has been a resounding Success imagine we didn't Galloway would have doublE figures at center half which is a scary thought unless of course we could of got a first team ready decent centre half on a free & signed loris karius, Timmo horn or begovic.

It like you need a roof on your house & new Windows you get the a new roof as its leaking & do the Windows next year simply because there old & sh*t
Completely agree. But I think in the summer we all felt the priority was a playmaker. We didn't get that and as it turned out we've been ok without one up front. We should have the cash to target CB AND GK. I suppose Martinez had to compromise and go with one priority.

There's no hiding place from this now though. Howard needs punting.

Martin Oneil, another illustrious name to add to the list of potential successors alongside such genius's as Gary Monk and Tony Pulis

I agree. But we are still in pole position with 3 seasons left. New owners the key for me too.

He won't be going anywhere unless the offer is too good to turn diwn and it suits Roberto,

FFS did these boys not learn owt from the Stones saga, Kith :)
No mate they did not. Stones will re-sign in the Summer and won't be sold for under 40m. Lukaku is up on Suarez and Sterling money.
New ownership soon decides Everton's future

We can mock the likes of O'Neill (probably rightly so), but who could honestly say we'd be lower in the league than where we are now with someone like him in charge?

We'd have no Lukaku. No Deulofeu. No Cleverley. None of the young players that came to the club for Roberto. Galloway. Holgate. Henen. The young Swiss bloke last week. And a few more.

You Know what we would have though with O'Neill?

No hope...

No hope in life is just about the single worse thing you can do to a person.

Did I just see Martin O Neill would be a good choice as manager....

This is why we can't have nice things... Must be the worst post I've ever seen on here, and considering I've had my fair share of horrible posts that takes some doing.

As much as Martinez drives me crazy at times I think he has a vision to bring this club forward, frustrates the life out of me but he has a vision all the same.

If we can keep Lukaku for 2/3 years more I can genuinely see us challenging for league honours.

But we won't keep him for 2-3 more seasons as we have well and truly cocked up these last 2 seasons.

Some of our fans sound like some bloke whos blown all his cash and now living in a bedsit, hes blagged a stunner who's a bit of a gold digger, convincing himself "if I win the lottery in the next year or so I'll have enough dosh to keep her" not realising she'll be off soon as someone with actual money in the bank makes an approach.

Absolutely no point in having these players if you can't use them on a pitch to get results. Whatever hope we have under Martinez is starting to look more and more like a pipe dream.

Who knows though, decent run of fixtures coming up again in the league apart from the Liverpool game. Maybe we can cobble some form together and sort this season out.

Answered yourself there my man.

I am as frustrated as anyone. But we wouldn't be sitting here with the hope and excitement with a Moyes/O'Neill/Pulis/"Insert any dross British recycled Manager here".
