Roberto Martinez discussion

It's just not good enough at the minute, and hasn't been for a long time sadly. But every so often punctured by a great win and performance and you think we've turned a corner. But we don't.

I really really want it to work out for Martinez as I do think he has a plan to take us forward and we play some really great football going forwards. But defensively we've been awful and in a results business we're not getting them. We are far less than the sum of our parts and our position in the league with his team is criminal.

If he's under no pressure from the board, he should be, and he needs a win massively on Wednesday. Lose that and the crowd unrest will intensify massively.

In my eyes...

No Wembley - time to go. I said it before it feels and looks like you are starting to lose the dresser. And this team will be ripped apart inside of 6 months anyways....One game Roberto. One game.

8 points to relegation with this defence. Not that Stones would be suddenly poo but he's clearly not arsed anymore.

Sell him and buy new kick into this pack.

We've only won 1 more than Sunderland, Newcastle and Swansea (17th-19th place teams) and 1 fewer than West Brom. 3 fewer than West Ham, Liverpool, Southampton, Watford and Palace.

Football is about winning. You can talk about possession, goals scored, assists etc all day but these things need to service wins. We have such brilliant players but we are the epitome of average (6 wins, 6 defeats and a league high 11 draws).

Yes, yes, but...

Wednesdays game is absolutely massive for Martinez, we lose and go out then think for the first time he will have the majority aginst him, win it can turn the entire thing around, Kendall's Oxford game effectively if it goes well, Moyes game against the rs if it doesn't

Does anyone think he can actually improve the defense?

What we've seen today we've seen many times over at least the past year and a half. He's had that long to see the issues we have defending collectively and individually and I don't think there has been any progression. I love watching us play football when we're on the boil. The problem is we have to be able defend, you can try and keep possession all you want but players need to be able to effectively win the ball back and work to prevent the other team from having opportunities. We just aren't doing it, the front four players do very little defending and teams are just walking the ball into the final third where the defenders are overwhelmed by numbers. Nevermind Howard or Stones, it's not down to a single individual other than Martinez and his lack of defensive organization.

Utterly damning

My point being, we have other and more important issues too. You know the stats, he is stinking the house out as a manager. The players look half arsed, he doesn't know how to defend a lead and close a game out, he also has a shocking record for over a season and a half now for winning football matches.
Howards one of the main issues though, everyone bar the yanks and bobby see that

Not this season but I genuinely think he's capable of taking us down in the future. Madness to think that's even a possibility given the current talent we have.
