Roberto Martinez discussion

Not sure what it is but there is a serious fundamental issue playing at Goodison. Our away form whilst not picking up loads of wins we've only lost 1 away game I think. We have now lost to Swansea, Stoke and Leicester at home. That was simply unheard of a few seasons ago. The moody crowd isn't helping but Goodison is always going to be a reactive crowd, not a proactive crowd, and for nearly 3 seasons now we've literally had nothing to get excited about at Goodison. If we crash out of the cup on Wednsday then this season is another complete and utter waste. Whatever I'm just rambling now, I'm not even angry after that defeat, this type of game/performance is becoming the norm and if Martinez isn't careful he won't be able to find a way out of this situation.
Great post

I would not be surprised if this happens.

When we get beat on Weds, then the reality of where he's taken us will truly sink in.

Nearer to the relegation spots than Europe and with a defensive record that is utterly disgraceful.

Today was a massive game for me, as a win put us back in the hunt. But we've rolled over to an awful Swansea side at home and all of the inadequacies of Martinez style and team selection were frighteningly apparent.

He can't be blamed for losing Mirrallas and Besic so early on, nor Seamus Coleman from missing from under the bar, can we really blame him for Stones' poor back pass?

The one unforced substitution was a positive one.

We've got a semi final on Wednesday, he needs to really get the players up for that, everything was flat today.

Just no shape or system today mate, I still don't know where Cleverley was supposed to be playing.

Given it is extremely unlikely that RM will find himself out of a job, how can he be convinced to compromise his principles? It's all very well saying "I'll never compromise my principles", but when the defence is as slipshod as ours, and we are heading towards the bottom, it's time for an injection of common sense and time to go out and find a good defensive coach. RM doesn't care about keeping a clean sheet. it's time he did.

He knows it himself that if he fails at Etihad he will lose the fans backing. Kenwright will back him though. Players are the ones who decide his faith.

Spot on.
