Im a huge Martinez fan, his approach, his professionalism, his respect for our clubs values and traditions are all great. I am greatly concerned about his comments regarding our defence. Although he has the respect of the media and his peers, i cant help but realise that on his day he can win a cup with a average wigan team, but his league form dipped alarmingly when he refused to address wigans defensive problems, he thought his plan A of sweet football would carry him through - and he was wrong. Different team i know but you need a striker to score 50 a season in order to win games if your conceding at least once a game. However i suspect im just worried about here and now and i hope normal service will be resumed soon !
Hope so mate but his comments in the echo have not helped him.

Even though we are slightly worried, and as you say his comments didnt help, i still find myself listening to him with some belief, he just talks his way out of anything with his bottomless pit of positivity. He could talk the steel knickers of a nun !
In football a 1-0 derby win will give us a renewed optimism im sure.

Following on from my last post in here, i will forward my thoughts about Roberto.
He NEEDS to see out his contract at the club. Ther eis no mistake attacking wise we have improved considerably and we actually play modern football, not that terrible stuff we had for the few years before he arrived. There is a certain philosophy he follows and you can see it on the pitch, although you can also see his weaknesses as a manager as well.
But there is one thing he needs to be backed for, YOUTH. Since joining the club we have signed galloway, byrne, henan, the irish lad, and given contracts to youth players coming through. We have give Stones a place in the squad, gave Ross a first team spot and seem to be fostering other teams young wingers as well.
Point is all the years of being skint may continue but the emphasis on youth is how i personally want to see the club move forward with. We cant afford to spend obscene amounts of money and even signing lukaku (another youth!) has crippled us, but a necessary signing. Before roberto arrived we didnt even give any young player a spot in the squad, let alone giving him game time. So if we arent going to win the league or bridge the gap between us and the billionaires above us then i am happy to back Martinez's policy of bringing and developing the youth set up and hopefully we can start to produce an academy worthy of a club who are outperforming every other best of the rest team in the league every year.
Id rather have youth coming in and making a massive impact with faith in them rather than signing billy big balls from half way accros the world who may or may not be a good player.
