Roberto Martinez discussion

Not blaming kone for that, Stones is my absolute public enemy number 1 at the moment as he seems to cause more problems than anyone else but it's the defensive shape and balance of the team, against a team who overwhelm in numbers and with pace. Wingers covering full back's mistakes is part of it, and yeah having the pace to actually get back and help is part of it. Kone and osman don't have that so the defenders are exposed and on ther own

it all comes down to the manager, who should've known stones would make yet another mistake or two, yet insists on playing him, out of position and without cover.
i'll have the balance of the team didnt look good, I think this game was tailor made for Lennon, plenty of defensive raft but speed and attacking ability going forward. Stones does need to get his head out from where ever it is at the moment. He's turning turbo gash

Look at the bigger picture.

Last year the excuse for poor league form was the Europa. We went into the back of a second leg, our entire season riding on a cup who genuinely many of us thought we could go on to win - Martinez nativity lost us that game horrendously and was ultimately a disaster.

This year our league form is arguably just as dreadful, yet we are supposed to be out of 'second season syndrome' and have no europe to battle with. We did ok in the cup to reach a semi-final, and refereeing decisions cost us - but ultimately the line up, tactics and subs during THIS AND PREVIOUS UPCOMING games were diabolical, and to be ignored would be ridiculous.

Nothings changing.

He's done himself no favours over the last 18 months in his persistence in playing his favourites and in particular Howard. Obviously he didn't play today, but what his selection today suggested that his favourites will never be dropped. John stones is a very capable footballer, but, his heads not been in the game since the Chelsea speculation, and in more recent time is having a particularly bad time, his confidence is shot. Roberto leaves a fit right back on the bench, to accommodate 3 centre halves in a 4 player defence, it doesn't fit. Stones should be dropped, to avoid the fans or whatever getting to him.

His decision to leave Lennon on the bench when deulofeu had to come off, basically took all our momentum, and that was that, we were only gonna win via penalties. Disasterous decision.

6 league wins all season. 16 wins in 61, isn't good enough. Best squad in years and were languishing in the bottom half of table and out of a cup at the final hurdle... No more excuses, it's time to go, before we end up going.

I am sorry but if we want to get into champions league and become a top team, we have to learn to defend.
Scoring goals can only get you that far, as witnessed by how rs couldn't win the title 2 years ago.
sad thing is this is one of our best squad in years and if we stick with martinez we will have nothing to show for it.

To be fair, I would settle for 17th this season and the F.A. Cup.

I was looking forward to going Wembley for the LC final and now I feel cheated :(

But I might get there yet......twice.

COYB.

Our league form does not convince me at all. A cup win is a pipe dream.

Can't see him making anything worse. His appointment would lift the whole place up and I think all our players need right now is a man who said to them - go out there, put some fight and enjoy yourselves. It could be short term, but we need some refreshing. Things are getting heavy now.

The lad is right obviously. anyone who doesn't see it is kind of john the crybaby stones. the players need to man up COYB !

Im not calling for anyones head or anything but we wasted a glorious opportunity in Kiev last year and we blew another glorious opportunity last night. We still have the FA cup thankfully but i think it's fair to say that the manager blotted his copybook yet again last night.Anything less than an FA Cup or a top half of the table placing by the end of the season obviously means that the hard questions will have to be asked.Viva the revolution eh.

Please don't remind me of Alcaraz...
