Roberto Martinez discussion

We did have some luck also. Clear as day foul on Aguero in build up to our goal.

It wasn't mate, and at first I did think it was. The replays showed Mori clearly got the ball. Aguero was backing in, waiting and expecting the foul, but it never came.

Same happened when De Bruyne did his knee. If De Bruyne hadn't flopped over after very little contact, he wouldn't have got his knee caught underneath him...

I'm not one of those people though. It's improper to use other people's arguments as ammunition against my own.

My issue is mostly with the utter lack of fight in our squad. We get a lead, take our foot off the gas, other teams get back into it, and we capitulate. It's an all too common narrative.

I expected City's £500million team to 'come back into it' at home. They did it down to a deflection and a goal that shouldn't have counted.

They beat us with a quality piece of play from two world class individuals to capitalise on a deflated defence and slack marking from Stones and Jags...

What do you think will happen if their is NO takeover and we amble on to the end of the season?

We all want to win as many games as possible, that's all he has to do, win more games, that's his job, he's done absolutely fantastic in building this squad and keeping it together.

It's now just a case of ever growing levels of frustration now.

I'm desperate for Evertonians in 24 months time to NOT be thinking of 'what could of been'

Still I'm sticking to my guns last night was dire. We were 3-1 up with just over an hour to go, 4-3 down with 15 to go and their keeper was not forced into 1 single save.

I'm pretty confident with what (little) I know that there will be new owners by the start of next season mate. Just hope it's not the ones in the driving seat right now (again based on the little I know) but I'm merely a fan so have no say in the matter.

Thanks. Now neck me man.

He brought it on himself, mate. Calling opposing teams 'parasites' because they won't let you win isn't conduct befitting an Everton manager. I'm afraid this had been coming ever since.

I hope Bobby learns from these moments of hubris, just as I did when Lukaku signed for Barcelona.

Hahaha is right. At least you wasn't terrified of Barcelona coming for Martinez a couple of seasons ago.

Did he call the other team a parasite? I honestly switched off and swerved the whole post match thing. He chats utter guff at the best of times.

I turned from last night.

And I was fairly vocally for Martinez. It wasn't the result last night. Hell, we can actually argue that the result was unfair (hint: it wasn't).
But last night was predictable. Not because it was City. City drop important games all the time, they lack bottle, and have a terribly shaky defense.

But rather than go in there, shut up shop after Barkley's goal and try to hold on for a win OR continue to press and attack and push and try to race with them...we just kind of rolled over. Again. Our squad is lacking tenacity. The ref gave them a goal. Did we get mad about it? Did we start playing harder? No, we deflated. Again.

At some point you have to hold your hands up and realize that the man is what he is, it isn't likely to change, and it isn't good enough.

Not sure mate, each to their own. My filter is simply "what's best for Everton short and long term" so right now I don't see any benefit short term of firing Martinez.

The record this season is really disappointing though. If he can't address it by the end of the season then he may have problems.

Let's see then.

Again, agreed.

There's a certain pattern that's emerged (Or at least become apparent) under martinez, that I've noticed.

A decision doesn't go our way, and within a minute we'll concede. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's happened on a few occasions - this season and last - when we've been done by clear-cut decisions and the other side's scored not that long after. Last night was one of the times we expected the ref to blow; sometimes it might be 4-5, or a few more passes later (But they've kept possession and the ball hasn't gone out of play) when they score.

That suggests a lack of either discipline, or fight.

Their team cost £500mil. De Bruyne cost more than our starting XI combined. We're the only team to keep a clean sheet against them since January last year. The least I'd expect City to do, at home, when losing a tie, in a semi-final, is have a lot of efforts on goal...
I'm not arsed about any of that. I'm a football fan not a bank manager. Is Barkley worth nothing because he came through our youth system? Is Deulofeu only a £3m pound player? Same for Stones? Is Jagielka only worth £5m. I thought Barry did well last night, he came on a free.

That was our biggest game for 5 years and the last 15 minutes at 4-3 down tells you all you need to know about Martinez.

No heart, No Bottle, No fight, No leaders.......And NO plan B.

Watch that KDB goal, at least 3 of our players saw it was out or at least from their POV could of been, they just turned around heads slumped into their shoulders and that's that. They should of engulfed that ref with absolute FUME.

Same with Chelsea away, first thing they should of done is gone straight to Mike Jones so he could acknowledge the flick on was off a Chelsea player, once that was established they should have insisted that he talked it over with his assistant, but no, same again shoulders slumped and off for the restart.

The team is a total image of what Martinez is, I'll leave you to decide whether that's a good or bad thing.

Doesn't matter if you get the ball or not, you can't take someone out from behind. It was a foul.

Also De Bruyne wasn't diving his leg had already got stuck and it was his body trying to react to it, I've seen that a few times up close and its not a nice injury.

Indeed....where is he? does he have acolytes who worship at the Martinez altar? Or was he setting up RM for a fall and being heavily ironic ...he is funny though
I'm not sure he's on a thread ban from here. That's why no postings, I'm certainly not going to goad him when he can't reply.

They did, Atkinson was having none of it, as Jagielka said. Bombarding him wouldn't have changed his mind - he'd shown that when he decided to make up a rule that taking time on a throw in meant that it was the opposition's ball...

Again, they did, and - I believe it was Jags again who said it, but Jones told them 'I didn't get a thing wrong all game'.

You literally know nothing about football do you?

No, it's a horrid injury I wouldn't wish upon anybody, never mind a player who is a joy to watch.

However, fact remains is that the City players all night backed into ours to win those little fouls, that really, aren't fouls.

Mori got all the ball. If Aguero hadn't been backing in, he wouldn't have got any of the man either.

Sorry mate, not going to discuss it with your good self then if you think that wasn't a foul. I can't stand this victim mentality. In our 3 games V City we have got away with 2 stone wall pens and a foul that led directly to us scoring. That's how it is, I'm not going to cry like a ..........(insert word of choice) when there is no way you can blame refs for the fact that of the last seventy domestic 90 minutes we have competed in we have ended up NOT winning 48 times.
