Roberto Martinez discussion

Regardless of who the manager is the league season is over so when I say time I'm talking about the rest of the season not the transfer window.

But it is not over. We are 5 points behind 7th place. At the start of the season, I think most people probably expected us to get top seven. Is that not correct? It's definitely achievable.

Faith is waning but I'd still give him a while longer. In the run of three games against spurs and man city it looked like he'd figured out how to defend.

One five minutes of madness and an offside goal against chelsea, a crap game against Swansea and two legal goals shipped against the best attack in the league with the best home record in the league - may not be proof against that. Of course it might. But it also might not.

A win against Carlisle should not relieve any pressure, just prevent him from sliding any further.

The 3 games against Newcastle, Stoke and West Brom are massive for Roberto. After that it's the derby, so he really needs to claw back some good will from the fans before then.

The derby date has changed now because of the League Cup final.

Think this is a good point. Sums up my thinking, really

lol i mistyped, so apologies there.

What i meant was the ball broke out to fabregas who had the time to get a shot off, rebounds off defender, goes in.

2 WEEK LATER

ball breaks to fernanhino, time to take a shot, rebounds and goes in.

THERE IS A THEME!

we aren't covering the space outside the box when we defend.

I think you need to study this a little more.

How many forwards are marked/unmarked in the box? How many forwards are marked/unmarked outside the box?

At corners, it's traditional to have a player at the front post and another at the back post. Players are needed towards the corner flag in case of short corners. Teams often leave a player on the half way line, who usually attracts two defenders. Roberto chooses not to do this.

Ultimately, the direction of a rebound is a matter of chance. Where a deflected shot goes is also a matter of chance.

loyalty to players does seem to have been a problem ,naismiths scores a hat-trick plays more games and doesnt work out, same with kone

and howard obvs, he needs to develop a more ruthless streak

Personally, I think Martinez tells the players to make sure a rebound goes straight to an opposition player... just like how Moyes used to tell Jagielka or Distin to just get the right angle on it to make sure a shot deflected into the bottom corner every time ;)
