Roberto Martinez discussion

One dimensional yes, and that's putting it mildly - we look hopelessly plodding most of the time. Moyes would not have tolerated that - and lets not forget that Martinez has a better playing squad than Moyes ever had. I just think the results would have been better if we had Moyes as manager with the same squad this sesaon - and I am no Moyes lover.

First defeat in 8 games wasn't it?

Moyes could never get the team on runs like that until the last Turkey sandwich had been finished off.

A big game for Martinez tomorrow especially with city next.
If we lose to hull at home and play the same slow way even the staunchest Martinez fans must start asking questions.
They were awful against united Saturday and are ripe for a beating

We will lose v hull then go and beat city 2-0. Its the Everton way im afraid.

John Aldridge was on 5 live earlier doing the most long winded excuse ever for his twitter tirade against the Everton fan the other week and how he should not have reacted but then finished by saying " People think Rodgers job is in danger, but he is on the same points as Martinez and we have a run of winnable games. Everton lose to Hull and them fans will turn on Roberto with the same horrible abuse they gave me "

Just when I thought he was trying to be a bit humble and apologetic he sticks the knife in.

When you surrender possession to a good footballing side, you rarely come out of it with a positive result, as Moyes record against most of the top PL sides proves. Our problem all season has been individual mistakes leading to conceding poor goals. Can you attribute that to the manager? Not sure myself like.

I think tactically at times we've looked a tad one dimensional, I'd like to see more of a 'plan b' when we're being nulified and he needs to stop putting square pegs in round holes with his team selections, but overall I still think he's doing a great job.

It's a confidence thing.

Take four games where we have lost leads this season.

Leicester, Arsenal, Palace and Spurs.

Take the United game when we were on the front foot and looking the likeliest winners at 1-1.

The tactics were OK and the movement was fluid and incisive, everything was going well.

Then from out the blue one of our players makes a basic error and the opposition score.

There has been no way back......the passing went to pieces.....the tempo slowed....it became safety first football.

It was almost as if the players lost confidence in each other and in their own individual selves.

These unforced errors have a nasty, corrosive effect.

I'm completely okay with the possession way of playing if it plays correctly. I've noticed it works a bit better away against teams like Burnley, you can tell against teams like Swansea if they sit back the passing just turns slower and we still don't have a playmaking passer that can unlock defenses yet. If we don't get a result against Hull then I think questions can start to be asked but once the bad errors cut themselves out there'll be a lot more to like defensively.

Dare I say, a Moyes type team would have a field day against us ATM. The energy levels and pressing Spurs showed against us were typical of the effort the team used to put in under Moyes. Our pedestrian build up would play right into his hands.

We started out very quick and fresh with some fast passing forwards against Spurs. The equaliser changed all of that, and for me the change in performance was down to confidence issues rather than anything tactical. We are struggling to shake off the hangover of a slow start caused, IMO, largely by individual errors and the unexpected woeful form of our 1st choice centrebacks.

Id just like to point out. We have topped a Europa league group that included Wolfsburg. And currently sit 5 points, yes thats 5 points off 4th place!

yeah but he keeps putting professional footballers in different positions and they definitely don´t know what they are doing and don´t understand the instructions, and then also he plays a player when i know for sure that if he played a different one we would have won. and if we lose the next game we should ask him some questions I think!!!!

oh and Wigan got relegated.

I think most peep's frustration comes from knowing we have a potentially very good squad capable of nabbing a cup or fourth and beyond, and we are losing daft games that will ultimately cost us.

Europe apart we haven't got going really this season and its now December. The jamming in players out wide at the expense of actual wide players thing doesn't work either. Yet it persists.

We need a run in the league desperately, but then doesn't everyone?

Stop this unproductive flirting Everton and get sexing ffs. Your mate has booked a room in the Holiday Inn and sat in yer bills on yer todd eating pizza you lil bish.
