Roberto Martinez discussion

Absolutely. Thankfully, despite some of our siller fans wishes, he will be given the time to make it his squad.
I'm not asking for Martinez's head, but the way we're playing atm simply isn't good enough. About half way through and we're still in the bottom half. Haven't seen one convincing display this whole season, apart from the 80 minutes against Arsenal. Something seems to be missing from this Everton team. We can pass it around all day long, without adding a cutting edge to it and without grit and determination it's pointless.

In the end he's the manager and the responsibility lies with him.

Football is about mistake, the more you pass the chances are higher of losing possession, hardly any team can string 50 over passes and score goals for fun, we are not Barcelona or Bayern munich. But the way we are playing, we need 20 passes to bring the ball out from defense, another 20 chances to create a goal scoring chance. We're doing nothing much and only passing our way out of possession.

Hello mate, always good to see you posting. Old skool.

Nah, I reckon this season is turning into a bit of a shitstorm but we'll get our act together when it's too late but finish top eight.

Based on him building a young squad and some sound things I seen last season I'd persist with him if the above happens. As annoying as it is like. I was expecting much better things this season.
He just seems lost to me mate.
From messing the transfer window up to now i am worried.
A lot has been said about moyes but his teams never lacked desire and he gave us back our pride.
I see what your saying about the youngsters but for me rom and ross are going backwards this year.

I think we're getting this season's slump and last season's slump in one. then we'll win 15 in a row and win the league. martinez always does well in the spring. it's basically science.

Problem is the fans are clouded by his FA Cup win, let's be honest mcleish won a pot with Birmingham bobby was awful with wigan.

I like the guy but I'm concerned he actually isn't all that. Last season was a combination of his flashy play and the moyes grit left behind. I worry how we seem devoid of any fight now.

thats just made up in your head, and stated as a fact.

I'm worried that we may be relying on a moment of luck to get out of this slump in confidence. I hope it comes soon.
We had a lot of luck against west ham and have gone backwards since but i hope we get some more.
I stand by what i said about him he looks lost and even though teams are sussing us he changes nothing

Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "In the first half we did enough to win the game, but you don't win games with one-goal margins.

"I'm incredibly proud of the effort of the players. In the second half we were disrupted - Leighton Baines got a knock to the nose and got punished when Hull got the goal and we didn't have the energy to get the winning goal.

"With the number of games it's incredibly high - the effort and character was magnificent. They came here with a clear approach - a lot of energy and made it difficult to break them down. Hull were ruthless in taking their chance."

read through a translator = I'm disappointed that Hull outplayed us at home and Distin has got bricks instead of his shinpads.

Yes mate there doesn't seem to be much about us in terms of desire. Think it's also confidence based too like.

Suppose we'll see. He's a got a wee bit of money in the bank with us due to being sound last year so hope he finds a way out of it.

Very dull to watch now like.

Yes but it may not be good enough for many reasons. We have nobody hitting form really, and players in and out with niggles, and players making mistakes at the worst moment when the opposition don't look much of a threat.

However you don't see a thread of people highlighting the above and posting all night about it.

No, because its much easier to put the boot into the manager, and pull out statements like "lack of managerial nous" as if form, confidence and winning games can be turned on and off by a manager doing a couple of things differently or as some would wish doing exactly the things they have decided are wrong.

Of course he may be making mistakes, football isn't an exact science, but that can be discussed without the jumping off the cliff stuff and over-simplistic criticism that flows in here when things aren't good.

..not directed at you really Dutch.

Ridiculous talking about Martinez getting sacked. The feller is a very good manager.

But he's made some catastrophic errors and they've come home to roost. Not moving for a commanding CB in the summer was one of them. It's plagued us all season. January he needs to get in the market and get one in. Van Dijk would be a vast improvement on what we have now.

He's also had players in ill-fitting positions. It's just plain weird his wide player thinking. You have wingers, you play them, and you keep faith in them despite the odd under par performance - you dont shove Barkley/Naismith/Osman over there.

His subs have been horrifically slow. Tonight we should have had two on right on the hour when they drew level and the other soon after if it didn't work. That's a worry.

Exhausting the cm pairing to the point of fatigue and injury: unreal from a so called physio.

5/10 for the season so far - and he gets that almost solely for the EL campaign.

For me the crucial part of this, is we are trying to do it with players out of form and low on confidence. Its unlikely its going to look pretty right now if that is the case, and I hope we get the turning point soon so the players can show us how it should be played and how we have seen them playing this possession game before.
