Roberto Martinez discussion

Really harsh on Moyes IMO. Compare the club Moyes took charge of with the position in which he left it – people should show at least a little bit of gratitude

They did that when they gave him an ovation at the end of the season, he then went on to insult our club with ridiculous bids for Baines and Fellaini. He has had all the respect he will ever get.

He is nothing to do with Everton anymore, we were just the plucky little club who he made a name with in his eyes, the arrogant self serving rat is getting everything he deserves.

Yes, he said some things that proved him to be a bit of an arrogant arse, but the fact remains that our club is in a better place now than it would be were he never our manager. I'm not saying we should be celebrating him or anything, I just think people are choosing to remember things differently because of his behaviour over the summer

And they have every entitlement to do that, especially as he lied over his contract, saying he was waiting until the end of the season when he had already been round and dry bummed by Lord Fergie when he awarded him the throne back in December? About the same time he was lying to Everton fans.

I don't even dislike Moyes, just telling it how it is.

Obviously the majority of Evertonians are thankful to Moyes for what he did when he first joined, we were gash and he actually made us good again, but he never ever pushed us on. You get the feeling that Moyes was as negative as he was to make the job that he did sound better than it actually was.

Gratitude stretched to at least 6 yrs on over 3 million a year - far too much gratitude for what he actually did.

Yep. He achieved nothing. I dont see silverware. Same goes for Roberto when the time comes to assess him. If he cant get us success, it'll have been an important step change in the way we play (getting back to the clubs' principles and roots of playing passing football), but still no cigar.

During Roberto Martinez's unveiling as the new Everton manager, chairman Bill Kenwright revealed the Spaniard had promised to deliver Champions League football to Goodison Park.

It's fair to say the comment raised a few eyebrows. How could Everton compete with the likes of Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool on a shoestring budget?

It has now become apparent football Everton fans up and down the country had been brainwashed by David Moyes during his eleven year spell in charge of the club.

just done a thread on this didnt see it sorry

Everton’s previous inability to compete wasn’t down to money, it was because the club had the wrong mentality.

Spot on. Moyes had all the tools at his disposal, but instead of sharpening them for the fight he blunted them with negativity

All Evertonians appreciate what Moyes did but its what he didn't do. He was a safe manager and we needed that in the early years to stabilise but the problem was he never changed, he didn't as people say 'go for it'. He worried too much about the opposition rather than concentrating on our strengths.

The part that I have highlighted is not strictly a fact. Who knows what another manager might have done for us. We may have been 3 times FA Cup winners and a regular CL team....we just don't know. Moyes did big himself up along with BK stating every other week that he is the greatest manager. He did use the lack of funds as an excuse and now RM has come in and basically tore up Moyes ethos and is making everybody believe that we can win every game. It made me think what Lukaku said to Jags about being able to finish top 4 and Jags basically laughed at him is disbelief. I think RM has now got the players mindset absolutely spot on and it is showing in our play that they now believe they can.

Too soon to say we can get top 4 , lets just see who we bring in this month and how much United/Liverpool spend. He got the likes of Lukaku/Deulofeu on loan so you never know who he could get now!

I think Moyes is a quality manager but he wouldn't have got them players simply due to playstyle. One quality player could be the difference between T4 and T7

I hold my hands up and say I doubted his ability to manage our team, how wrong I was. God I was so wrong it hurts playing some of the best football I have seen in years long may it continue. Sorry Roberto I was wrong to doubt.
