Roberto Martinez discussion

Every manager makes mistakes, and Martinez has made several in recent weeks. Calling him out on those mistakes shouldn't be seen as outrageous. He gets all the praise when he has us winning games so it's only correct that he's criticised when he drops a bollock like he did today.

Definitely. What bollock did he drop today though?

I have come round to Bobbys style of play still nothing is ever going change with the club off the pitch so managers will sign on and walk the line.

I will be very disappointed if he settles for life with Billy Liar and his chums and their disastrous "stewardship".

I like Roberto, but as far as I'm concerned if he bends the knee and compromises in the summer he can do one. This club has been mismanaged for so long anyone shoring up these owners will be seen to be tarred with the same brush. Hopefully he's as good as his word and he has cash to spend before selling...and he then gets the proceeds of those sales.

The bollock he dropped today was by telling us all we would be stronger after the window shut. Business end of the season and he sold Jelavic and left us going in to today's match with an average squad player up front. Granted some bad luck with injuries but also some bad management. Good centre forwards are worth their weight in gold and we currently do not have a fit one for which he must take some blame.Spurs did today and that was the difference. The one he brought in was not fully fit and we were therefore left more exposed than necessary......definitely weaker after the window as ALcaraz is poor against better opisition and not better than Jonny and no fit forward.

Taking Pienaar off and then moving Osman wide, removed a lot of Baines' attacking threat from the left.

Taking off two players and replacing them with two wingers when Spurs were sitting deep and we needed a threat in the box.

With hindsight yes but at the time it looked a good option. Some fast attacking threat to open them up.

Didn't work that way but hey that's life. Wasn't a bad decision by any stretch.

Next?

No it didn't mate. The general consensus in the match thread was that taking Pienaar off was the wrong decision when it happened. Nothing to do with hindsight.

Same goes for not having a striker to bring on, or not bringing him on if he was fit. We did nothing once they scored because Spurs sat back and we had no threat in front of goal.

****ing hell... Why was Ross on bench and that useless naysmith up top farting and stinking the place...This is Sherwood team we were against and still bottled it.. My Liverpool mates gonna make ass out of me... No ****ing fight when you are a goal behind.. Sort it out bobby or **** off.

too late now, well and truly lost the fight for Europa never mind top 4, Spurs fluke games 1-0 always have always will and will do it til the end of the season its standard.

we have a tough palace side at goodison again without a striker then Chelsea at Stamford bridge which we wont get nothing from.

seasons over just focus on the cup.

You must be great at parties.

Well we disagree. And the match thread is hardly the reasoned opinion of value is it?

There was a reason why hardly anyone objected and that's because people could see the logic in the change.

But it didn't work, hey we can't win every game can we?

No no, Spurs are still in the Europa and you must never discount the chances of them falling flat on their faces. I agree that we should go all out for the Cup, though.

This "Martinez ****ed up in the January window" crap really is laughable, IMO. The players he wanted clearly weren't available for the right price. I'd rather he kept his powder dry for the summer window and get the right players instead of being forced into a panic buy. And a lot of those who point out we sold Jelavic and that weakened us up front blah, blah, blah are the same ones calling for Jelavic to be shipped out sharpish when he couldn't hit the ocean from the pier.
We played pretty well today for the most part, but we just needed to step it up a gear or two. We were far too deliberate in the buildup.
