Roberto Martinez discussion

I like Martinez much more than Moyes and I like the football we now try to play but for me he got it wrong not bringing Traore today. We are losing 1-0 in a game we really could do with winning and he decides to go with no strikers on the pitch when it was crying out for him to come on. You could see that was what we was missing so really didn't understand it. People are going well he wasn't fit to play, then why is he wasting a place on the bench and bothering to warm up on the sideline. He is never going to get everything right but for me today he got it wrong and it was frustrating

The problem is simple.

We don't attack with enough speed.

We play patience possesoon football, great philosophy no doubt, but if we don't have the technical ability and vision of world class players then we'll be struggling against team that sit back and defend.

our best attacking display under Martinez was first half at home against Newcastle. The reason is simple, we attack with speed. We have the players capable but why are we not doing this more often? Is it because of the rigid philosophy that Martinez stubbornly stick to?

We're a better outfit under Martinez. But if we cant give him some money he may as well not be here. I honestly think he'll see this and will leave before Kenwright lowers his stock.

Were very much heading in the right direction. Shame that our push for fourth will have been punished by key injuries - particularly up front - but this is a first season, hopefully we'll remedy some weaknesses and push on evern stronger next season.

But anyway, churlish for me to write us off with twelve games left. Still a load of points of play for.

About the best summation of the season to date.

We're definitely improving in terms of keeping the ball and we've got some good results this season at OT and the emirates, for example. Injuries have checked our momentum and unfortunately it's the same old story that we don't have enough quality in the squad.

IMO we needed 2-3 players who were ready to slot straight into the team in Jan. mcGeady and traore might be ace by the last 5 games but by that stage we might be way off the European spots. That being said, if Deulofeu, Barkley and traore find form and lukaku comes back as well then we can have a decent end of the season.

Think RM has done an excellent job. Everything a lot more positive, but we still need some big investment to challenge for trophies.

I hold RM in high regard but do get a bit frustrated with the all the [Poor language removed] footing about with the pill...WATY too deliberate and allows the defence to park a parking lot of buses

We really needed a target in the box today, far too tippy tappy down the channels, and very little actual goal threat.
Baines isnt helping as he seems completely incapable of finding a man with a cross or final ball. He hasnt been quite the same for a year now.

The bigger problem though was not having a striker lined up by Jan 1st, when it was stunningly obvious we needed one.

Martinez is learning the ropes a bit at a top club and is doing very well it will be next season until we see the real Everton

That is pure crap, how long has he been a football manager? He cocked up today with the team selection and tactics just like in the Derby and TBH we were fortunate against Villa.
