However it's impossible to ignore that the TV deal has changed in such a massive way that it'll take our operating profit from negligible in the last set of accounts to about +£40m in the next set. That's a LOT of money to try to lose down the back of the sofa. And while I agree that this board are experts at that, I don't believe even they can account for not spending that quantity of new income.
The only downside to Martinez getting us ace is that the board will take a step back and be able to not fund another Everton manager without lids hanging off their bonnets.

In the sense we competed very well snapping into every second ball. But could you see a Moyes team retaining the ball in the way that Martinez has these doing now? Not for me. We dominated but just couldn't find a winner. Mirallas wasn't that good today and Barkley needs to be rested until fully fit. But you can't say Martinez "sat on his hands and threw it away".
People also seem to forget it's his first season. When was the last time we could say we've dominated United, Arsenal and Chelsea all away from home? Plenty of positives to take from today's defeat.
