Roberto Martinez discussion

Martinez has to stop asking Jagielka to be a playmaker at the back. Jagielka can't pass ffs.
He can, for example today he made several really good long passes into the feet of Rom and his pass completion was only slightly less than Stones and (slightly surprisingly) Rom as best in the squad despite attempting far more than any other player on the pitch.

He just made one really awful one, Stones has done the same at times.

Unfortunately the third goal killed us off. I think this is the worst performance of this season though.

Agree it was a killer, lost us all momentum along with De Gea making a couple of important saves. But Jags has been superb this season including in general his passing - he just screwed up this time which happens even to the best CBs.

The key will be how we react next game, hopefully we bounce back like Utd did after their own shock drubbing by Arsenal.

I don't think the poor performances of James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Tim Howard and Steven Naismith in recent times is in anyway to do with the fact that Roberto Martinez is our manager.

Team selection today was fairly negative, but we were going in against one of the finest teams in the land. Nobody would slate Moyes for putting five across the middle and fighting for something.

We lost to a better team. Big whoop.

Allez Allez.

Poor today though Roberto should accept a lot of the blame it was a poor showing all round and difficult to pick a motm, the 3rd goal was shambolic
but when you viewed it from the Park end there wasnt a single midfielder showing for the ball, around the 60 minute mark I thin he should have taken
one of the defensive midfielders off as they were offering no protection, and putting mirallas on might have pinned them back more

Hopefully we react well. But I think the manager has to stop starting Naismith etc. Del and Kev are there to destroy the opposition.

It was a bad day at the office today. I think he needs to start Naismith less and we need to start rotating Barry he can't play every game. We got fairly lucky with the results around us today, we did not loose too much ground with teams around us.

- Naismith has had good performances in the same position on the park. Therefore not a bad selection, especially on form and given the cover he gives an inexperienced full back.
- Jags can pass the ball. Not amazingly, but no so bad as he he did in that moment
- Mirallas has spent a lot of his time as sub whether under Moyes or Martinez. He is also more than capable of the non-performance that some of the players had today. A lifetime watching football and people still think it's as simple as "oh he should have left him out, and started him" when we lose. nonsense.
-All of those players are more than capable of playing well enough to at least match that Man U team. That exact team selection on a good day is more than capable of doing that. Again, it's a nonsense to think it was the team selection when christ almighty there was some terrible individual displays out there

I'll agree there's blame to be placed on the manager for such a poor showing, but much of what a manager does right or wrong is not seen by the fans. The whingeing about the above is about as in-depth an analysis as Ray Parlour might offer on his dumbest day.

Leave barry its mccarthy thats the weak link out the 2 there this season

The very definition of knee jerk
Yep as Everton fail to win at home for the 18th time in their last 27 home PL games Everton fans knee jerk the world over with the view that that just isn't good enough.

God forgive them for their lack of patience and fickleness. How dare they demand more than 36 points from the last 81 avaliable at home. How dare they. It's almost like they think NSNO means something.

Fickle fickle.
