I'm not sure Kendall's passing had anything to do with the performance, but it's certainly not inconceivable.
That aside, get any kind of result against Arsenal and it will have been a decent start to the season considering the run of games we have had. I think we've been playing well, have made chances and look sharp. I've seen enough to convince me that we will start fisting teams fairly soon and one crappy result hasn't changed that.

yup. every team gets bummed at some point. as long as you learn from it and fix things going forward it's alright. get something from the arsenal game and we have a great run of all winnable fixtures coming up. its 38 game season and have to win games vs teams outside the top 4 as well. We beat UTD 3-0 last year and finished in a terrible position.
I'm actually massively more concerned for the upcoming games more than the first ten. Last year we were just pathetic when a team sat against us.

That was my first thought, Prev but the more I think of it there probably was an element of grieving affecting the players.
There was a strange atmosphere in the pub before the game and an unfocused, subdued, almost reverential ambivalence to the game itself inside the ground before the kick off and right up to half time, I thought.
Like the game was secondary to the fans until we realised we were two goals down,
So indeed it is very conceivable this feeling made its way into the dressing room before the kick off and the players were caught up in the general atmosphere of loss everyone who loves our club is feeling.
If he had died earlier in the week I am sure it would have been different.
So I am going to mark today off as being an aberration in what I see as an upward curve.

Have to agree that I think the news today may have left people stunned at the club. We can decide after the Arsenal match.
Pretty much this. There was no adjustment period and no chance to work through the emotion and get fired up and a shell shocked crowd had no intention of doing it for them.
Martinez still has a lot to answer for for not changing tactics when we went 1-0 down (playing deep on the counter is fine at 0-0, not at 0-1), but the players/staff get a pass today.

The amount of excuses for kid table performance is unbelievable. The amount of excuses that weren't valid under Moyes but are under Martinez is also unbelievable.

What does Moyes have to do with it? Don't know why he's brought up time and time again on here either in a positive or negative light. he's gone so move on. Today was an awful performance, we tried to play the same way as we did vs Chelsea but United was ready for it. Bad games happen.
