One of the most depressing things about this new manager process has been the ex-players coming out with their barbed comments about people associated with the job. Greats they may have been in the past, but a lot of them are on a good thing by keeping the whole thing in-house (or getting their preferred candidate in). They should keep their grids shut because they're motives are inevitably suspect and any respect for them is disappearing fast with many blues.

Internet age, it's not like they've really got that much pull, I would think.

All the guesswork from the bandwagon about what vitor will do, shake the club up, take us to the next level, ect.... Truly makes me chuckle.....

All about a manager that probably 95% of our fan base didn't know who he was 3 weaks ago and apart from him winning 2 titles with avb's top bunch of players in a poor league still don't know much about him really....Certainly not enough to claim he is the man to achieve some miracle at our club!

Everyone's entitled to there own opinions like.
Would have more respect for vitor fans if they just expressed there view to want him because they personaly like the look of him (as manager ha..) as apposed to claiming it "has to be him, or the board are idiots with no ambition" blah blah blah...

The Martinez bandwagoners make me chuckle, by constantly saying he would be a safe choice, this is a man who has just got his team relegated, theres nothing safe about that.

The man is a failure.

Vitor is a WINNER.

This.

I don't think any new manager is a 'safe' choice. We've not changed manager for ages. Whoever it is is a risk.

just like you hadn't heard of Moyes when he was appointed.

It's Martinez.

It'll never be Vitor - he wont be seen as "Everton's Type" - he'd rock the boat.
It'll only be Rangnick if Bill doesn't want to pay the compensation, or Martinez doesn't fancy it (Doesn't receive the assurances he'd have sought in his first meeting)

Martinez....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So by going for Martinez means that we pay them 2M...for a manager who got Wigan relegated. Not anti Martinez but when Rangnick and Vitor are the contenders then Martinez looks awful, its as simple as that and shows the "play it safe" mentality once more. Vitor's been there building Porto all these years so he must know how to develop youngsters too, GIVE HIM A SHOT!

There's more than one reason why a manager is appointed tho. No manager is a safe choice on the pitch...ie keeping us where moyes had us up at the top, it could go wrong or right for any of VP Martinez or Ralph or anyone else we appointed...

The safe choice comments for Martinez comes from being a guy who will come in and carry on moyes work behind the scene's. the youth set up, the Everton DNA, keeping the club ticking over the way it has been. Not coming in and changing all the staff, filling the club with strangers only to all vacate once it goes wrong. Continuity for the players that there still at the same special club running the same way albeit with a new gaffer.

There's no safe option on the pitch for us with a managerial change...
There are safe options off the pitch for us with a managerial change...

If you want to turn your nose up at that as being un-ambitious so be it...if you think moyes set up of the club and how we're perceived as a good club is wrong so be it....If you think we're run so badly behind the scenes (and I'm talking coach's, youth, ect not boardroom) and want a foreign invasion and a whole new regime, again so be it....I happen to think your wrong there's a lot of things right with EFC which I hope remain whoever's our manager.

No but we were in a mess from top to bottom, on the verge of relegation and things couldn't really get much worse at that point.

The difference now is we're in good shape from bottom to top, someone should be building on it not potentially ripping it all apart for total change IMO.

(I'm talking about team affairs here and how we're set up. NOT our board btw)
