What if it was all a charade from Dave Whelan to put pressure on us?

Anyway, from the moment the OS brings the story, I'll back Martinez. Until then: GO ON VITOR, THERE'S STILL A CHANCE YOU LAND THE JOB!!!

It's been one hell of a ride being in the potential moyes replacement thread. From Vitor to Rangnick, from Hughes to Stubbs, and now we've ended up with Martinez. Personally this statement stinks of "meh" to me as there are better managers out there but it's time to support the new manager. There's definitely negatives with the appointment of Martinez but there are negatives with every appointment and every appointment is a risk. There are also positives and it's really difficult to not like Martinez and his nice little smile, fierce loyalty and lovely Spanish eyes.

There's no better fellow
than our own Roberto
He's the best little Spaniard we know!

I think he rejected Villa because he wasn't impressed with what was on offer and turned Liverpool down because he wanted complete control.

I also reckon that's why Pereira might have missed out, his actions at Porto suggest he's more of a coach than a 'manager', and we need somebody to come in and do every part of Moyes' job.

Don't forget that the reality show was also part of the contact and Martinez was put off by that.

Because he has inherited a top 6 team and has a lot more resources. And people are banging on how good he is.

No one has banged on how good he is. Put a lid on it now mate it's done. It's obvious you and afew others have got your nickers in a twist cos you had afew bob on other candidates

He'll be a fine manager for us.

It could have been a lot, lot worse, lids.

Just be thankful he didn't decide to have a European adventure with Wigan, as we'd have probably ended up with Stubbs in charge.

Big step up for him, he's never had the resources like he'll have at Everton (If Moyes doesn't strip everything he wants to take!) and i only hope he makes good use of them.

Irvine will probably walk with Moyes too so I'd be interested to see who he appoints to head up the Academy. Not an easy task.

I'm just glad we have given him a chance, he a young manager with lots of potential. Now his first job is to make sure Baines signs a new contract and commits to us.

So now it's official, could someone make me a scarf with this on?
