It is a myth that his teams play this amazing attacking football. It is staggering to me, that a top 8 side can not only appoint a manager who has been relegated, but that their fans welcome it.

You will all be reminiscing about the sixth placed trophy in seasons to come.

Best fan alert.

I'm with you mate. I can understand a bit of disappointment from some, as I would have been seething with an internal candidate getting it. But you have to set it aside and fall in line because the feller has no luggage as far as being boss of Everton is concerned. By all means if we're struggling a year from now then take up a position, but until then it's not on to launch into the feller.

Personally, I reckon we've got a goodun here.

Me and you could be on for a role reversal this year!

He will get my support but if you look at that Wigan team and yes they don't have much money to spend on transfers or wages but they should have stayed up in my opinion. Worse teams in the league than them but personally I think it was Martinez tactics and blindness of all out attack mentality that got them relegated. If you look at Jewell's team compared to this one which finished 12th or something, Jewell's team was much worse.

Really fed up now. We've paid some muppets to design a crap badge and now we are paying a fee to recruit a relegated manager. Can it get any worse?

You took the words right out of my mouth there, as always I'll back the team and manager to the death but in my view this appointment shows a lack of ambition by the club, just not good enough.

Not sure how you can say that. He's a highly sought after coach. Only time will tell if it is the right appointment, but it hasn't been made due to a lack of ambition - it's because he seems to be right man for the job.

Wonder what peoples attitudes will be if;

a) He spends a few quid and brings in a striker.... and doesnt play him running the channel and he smashes in 20....
b) We turn up in the champions cup ( I stress that its a friendly but an opportunity to showcase ) and beat Juventus/Real M
c) We dont concede goals in pre-season ( again I stress, they are friendlies )

If anything, he could be a hiding to nothing - he brings in no striker ( or known striker ) of quality, gets smashed by Juve in a friendly and we leak goals in pre-season. Come opening day when we should be behind the team, we could be facing catastrophe as everyones dismissing the new regime because we've been beaten by a few known teams.. when normally we'd be playing lower level teams.

After Kendall Mk3, anyone was acceptable, after Smith, anyone was acceptable... after Moyes... expectations are raised.

We could have ended up with Gary Megson ( or Mick McCarthy etc this time round )

Should be behind him now, he's the leader of our club...

Come the 1st game of the season he will have every right minded Evertonian wishing him and our team the best.

Lets hope it proves to be a good decision, it is a fairly important one.
