Defo lid. So much so that I'll splash out £500 plus aways of my own money to watch it all happen live.

Top "supporter" you lad, hope you don't get an obstructed view bet your ancestors used to shout "sit down I can't see the lions eating the christians".

One of the most dismal features of this manager debate has been Evertonians looking down their noses at replacements for Moyes...as if we just let a highly successful manager slip through our fingers who lived up to the school of science traditions. Well we didn't. And United have made a monumental error in hiring him. Martinez is already ahead of the game in comparison to Moyes, IMO, and he'll do a different and at least as good a job here if/when he signs in and we give him time and support.

This 'NEXT LEVEL' people keep mentioning is never going to happen, it wasnt under Moyes and it probably wont until Kenwright goes.

Agree with that, no slight on Martinez, but the best he can hope for while the likes of City, Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal and now Spurs continue to run further away from us, is to maintain the status quo. They get richer and we hope the Manager can squeeze every drop of talent to get a Champions League place.

Naaaaaaa. Pretty clear now it was always going to be Martinez, and now we're paying Wigan compo for the privilege.

I'm sorry, but no matter how you slice it, he took Wigan backwards and ultimately got them relegated. We have a better squad, obviously, but can you honestly see him replacing players with real class and having us kicking on into the CL places in the near future? It just ain't gonna happen, and there's only one other way we can potentially go..

Genuinely concerned tbh.

Nobody knows whether this is true or not. The bookies and the punters certainly weren't sure (unlike at Man City and Chelsea). But conspiracy theories are always more popular than mundane reality.

Will he take us into the Champions League? Moyes didn't manage it in the last 9 years and I certainly hope Martinez can improve on that. Can I see him doing that? Not without a crystal ball.

Our most successful manager ever came here without much of a track record - and was far from popular in his first couple of years. If you think you can draw any conclusions from any of this, think again!

But for now, let's be positive, eh?

Spot on here Dave. The doom and gloomers are having a shocker in here, change is a good thing people.

whoever neg repped me least have the balls to own up, dont give a **** a bout rep anyway so neg me away, still won't change my opinion that this appointment is a lazy one and shows bill up for what he truly is.

"worked wonders" ... "opinion"

Are you getting it?

Not everyone shared your opinion but
at least had the good grace to judge
on what he did as our manager not on
what he did at Preston and certainly
he was given the benefit of the doubt
right up his "best squad" remark a
couple of seasons ago when it went
tits up and became clear he'd never
win anything.
Don't come with the hypocrisy stuff if you don't know what you're on about.

I know that your criticisms of Moyes are going to lool fairly stupid in 12 months time. And yes, that is my opinion mate. Well spotted.

That's me done with this thread

Sick of all this forced positivity

It's not forced positivity, your just talking sh!t mate!. Regardless of who we appoint, we should get behind the club, manager and players!. We could appoint Mike Bassett and id support him and thats the truth cos it's Everton, thats who i support and care about!.

But you talk about Martinez coming in and that basically we'll go from top 5 to bottom 5 and i just dont understand why you'd think that?!. He isnt a bad manager, and are team isnt crap either!. We actually have some very good players and when all fit, will match anyone on any given day.

Are you one of these brain washed fans that believe its all down to Moyesy that were so good, and that without him they wouldnt be as good or perform to the levels we did under Moyesy?!. Are you one of these that really thinks we "punch above our weight", "overachieve" every season?!. Cos i dont, weve done it for too many season now to believe that bollox!.

You dont compete aswell as we do up at the top and finish within the top 6 or 7, season in, season out most years unless your a good side!. And not only that, the spirit and togetherness is legendary at Everton these days, clubs are envious of us for that fact and that wont be lost cos Moyesy as fcuked off!.

Martinez is a positive thinking, attack minded manager who believes in playing the beautiful game and i for one think in time, he will get us to the heights of Moyes and beyond.

This next season will be a transitional period for the team, he'll want to put his methods across and stamp his own ideas on the side, bring his own men in and it will take time for things to click so no, we wont be up where Moyesy got us straight away, but i dont think we'll be bottom half either!.

Give the man a chance, a break and see just what he can bring to the table!. Us that can see beyond Wigan's relegation can see a promising manager there in Martinez!.

Good manager to get, he can now shop at tesco rather than netto now he has a bit more money to spend.
He can attract better players that Wigan couldn't afford (wage wise) and he is coming to a team with a ready made defence. Maybe we can try something different than pass pass sideways, wide, cross.
