Rather than be persuaded one way or the other as to how Martinez will fare by people on here, I'm more interested how the players will respond. Personally, I think we'll start the season with a stronger squad fully behind the new manager. It's going to be a lively time me thinks.

One of the most dismal features of this manager debate has been Evertonians looking down their noses at replacements for Moyes...as if we just let a highly successful manager slip through our fingers who lived up to the school of science traditions. Well we didn't. And United have made a monumental error in hiring him. Martinez is already ahead of the game in comparison to Moyes, IMO, and he'll do a different and at least as good a job here if/when he signs in and we give him time and support.

What I'm not getting is why the pro-Moyes camp seem to be Martinez-sceptics while the anti-Moyes camp want him.

As someone who supported Moyes throughout I consider this to be potentially a very exciting appointment.

Whatever anyone thought of Moyes he has gone and it is time to move on to pastures new.

It's not forced positivity, your just talking sh!t mate!. Regardless of who we appoint, we should get behind the club, manager and players!. We could appoint Mike Bassett and id support him and thats the truth cos it's Everton, thats who i support and care about!.

But you talk about Martinez coming in and that basically we'll go from top 5 to bottom 5 and i just dont understand why you'd think that?!. He isnt a bad manager, and are team isnt crap either!. We actually have some very good players and when all fit, will match anyone on any given day.

Are you one of these brain washed fans that believe its all down to Moyesy that were so good, and that without him they wouldnt be as good or perform to the levels we did under Moyesy?!. Are you one of these that really thinks we "punch above our weight", "overachieve" every season?!. Cos i dont, weve done it for too many season now to believe that bollox!.

You dont compete aswell as we do up at the top and finish within the top 6 or 7, season in, season out most years unless your a good side!. And not only that, the spirit and togetherness is legendary at Everton these days, clubs are envious of us for that fact and that wont be lost cos Moyesy as fcuked off!.

Martinez is a positive thinking, attack minded manager who believes in playing the beautiful game and i for one think in time, he will get us to the heights of Moyes and beyond.

This next season will be a transitional period for the team, he'll want to put his methods across and stamp his own ideas on the side, bring his own men in and it will take time for things to click so no, we wont be up where Moyesy got us straight away, but i dont think we'll be bottom half either!.

Give the man a chance, a break and see just what he can bring to the table!. Us that can see beyond Wigan's relegation can see a promising manager there in Martinez!.

great post mate!

I know I said I was done, but I couldn't stay away

I think all the Pro-Martinez supporters should just let us vent and get it off our chests

I'll be there first home game of the season and I'll be rooting for the team. I'll root for them whether the season goes well or not. The fact remains that I think there were better choices than Martinez and I think I'm entitled to verbalise that here

If you're happy about this then good for you. Seriously. Just don't have a go at me and similar posters who don't feel the same way

Please, Roberto, I wanna like you...

There is a 3rd group...those who thinks he is not good enough for Everton.

Can,mt wait for his media work...should be something special.

I know that your criticisms of Moyes are going to lool fairly stupid in 12 months time. And yes, that is my opinion mate. Well spotted.

Not interested in discussing Utd's manager.

The point is WE (EVERTON FC in case you don't know) have a new manager who deserves a fair crack of the whip and I can see a fair number of "Roy Hodgson out" types made famous by the lepers from across the park festering away on here.

Totally agree with this.

And a big factor I think many are not considering is the atmosphere at Goodson under Moyes. Unless it was a big game against Utd/ Chelsea/ RS/ City and we were able to go backs to the wall, the atmosphere was ordinary.

Against any other team we turned up and were uninspired. I am a Moyes fan but this was true.

Under Martinez, if it works out, we will go to play teams knowing we will try and play good football at a high tempo.

Spot on here Dave. The doom and gloomers are having a shocker in here, change is a good thing people.

Laughing at the stuff about Wigan's record under him: like that job wasn't ever the football equivalent of plaiting sawdust that was always going to end in tears eventually...especially when you fight on two fronts to the very death of the season. An almost impossible task to achieve both the cup win and the PL survival...especially with your whole back line in the treatment room.

Good post Dave.

I was talking to my mate earlier and I was saying how mad its going to be for all our current players to not have Moyes instruction, tactics and mentality in the dressing room and at training. We have some very good players, and I can't see them getting any worse under Martinez. If we hire the man, then he has my support. Even if we win every game 5-4, we'd still be Champions.
