Roberto who?

If Felli goes we would be unable to play a 4-3-3. In fact, even if Felli stays we would struggle to play a 4-3-3 as we lack the right personnel for a 3 man midfield. We do not have ANY senior RMs (Mirallas is a winger/striker, not a middie) and Pienaar is too lightweight to play LM in a 4-3-3.

We have the players for the central midfield slots... Apart from mirallas we don't have the players for the 3 forward posistions.

Howard
Coleman jags Distin Baines
Fellaini
Gibson pienaar
RW Striker Mirallas

If fellaini goes, Gibson plays the DCM role. Even if he stays him and gibbo could swap and play either. There would also be Barkley and Osman. Or even a new signing Fer for eg.

The 3 striking posistions are the problem. Mirallas would take the left sided role (his best posistion) but we need a RW and CF.

Look at the two teams put out, I'd rather have faced City's current team, playing for a manager who has lost the dressing room. Rooney has never really been picked against us, Fergusan made a tactical change to play Tevez and Berbatov. It's a bit of a joke to call them, Ferdinand, Scholes, Evra, Vidic etc etc reserves. It shows an acute ignorance.

You need to look at the starting line-up, you sound completely deluded.

We also should have conceeded a nailed on Pen.....then we won on Pens!!!

"Rooney" might have helped both in performance and in the net spend stakes - then again he might not!!!

As for the league I think the whole point is over 38 games you find your approx level and selling your best players etc year after year and wanging the wage bill while evertone else is paying more might do that for anyone - BUT WIGAN??? c'mon.

Anyway it's all being deliberately negative it ignores the work at Swansea and the fact he actually won something!!!

If you're going to be selective about a potential new EFC manager why select the negatives and ignore the positive?

I'm not trying to be negative mate. There are positives. He's a young manager. He has developed some young players. He did a good job at Swansea. if Stubbs and Weir become part of his backroom staff that could be a good mix. He also doesn't tend to spend heavily, so won't bankrupt the club. He seems positive, and quite loyal, which will go down well. He's won a cup, but I put less importance on that than others do,

However there are also problems. I don't think we are in anything like the state you made out, that we need a Shankly to change the clubs outlook. We have an excellent team. Had it not been for refereeing decisions, and a ridiculously high amount of points required, we'd be in the top 4. We need someone to take us to that level. Evidence indicates to me Martinez is not that man. We are not Swansea in division 3/4, or Wigan, thankful to see us scoring two good goals in a 4-2 home defeat. The expectations are different now, and Martinez is going to need better excuses than "we are trying to be attacking". That will wash at small clubs, but it won't at Everton. We don't need him to introduce us to what attacking football looks like. It's in our DNA.

He could be the man to take us into the top 4. I hope he is. My impression of him, is he accepts defeat too easily.

I do love this Man United reserves nonsense. Given Ronaldo was injured, they were almost full strength. There was about 150 million pounds worth of talent on the pitch. Reserves like Vidic, Ferdinand, Berbatov, Scholes, Evra, Wellbeck, Tevez etc. The United team we beat were far stronger than the City side Wigan beat. It's a shame when Evertonians try to trounce all over the memory of famous Wembley Wins.

I agree. Macheda, Anderson, Park, Gibson and Welbeck were all better than Nasri, Toure, Aguero, Barry etc.

Don't forget Per Kouldrup and James Beattie

Bily and Beattie were not as bad as people made out. They played games, scored goals and made contribution to the team. We also got fees for them not lost them on a free.

We only lost £1.5m on Kroldrup. A Lescott profit already covered all the lost here.

I have looked at the line ups. I have given you names of players you have called reserves, like their club captain at the time! A win is a win, and we beat the best team in Europe, (ourselves missing several key players, at least as many as United were).
