For me, the bigger surprise and cause of more disappointment was the immediate betting list for next Everton manager.
Malky Mackay, Neil Lennon, Roberto Martinez... even Phil Neville, all leading contenders.

Nothing against Mackay and Martinez really (I actually like both managers), but it was maddening to see the bookies automatically look down the leagues to inferior teams rather than consider the continent and beyond for managers who are looking to test their mettle in the Premier League.

So not pro-Martinez, just not anti-Martinez - I pretty much had him as a middle of the road option. Better him than Hughes, Neville, Lennon etc. but not exactly an inspired choice all the same.

Villas Boas struggled at Chelsea and he inherited a very decent Spurs squad with of course a certain Gareth Bale in the form of his life.

If Bale goes I really think Spurs will struggle.

Im conflicted how I feel- he'll get my backing but I think we'll need to be patient to see him put his stamp on the squad.
