Love it.

I can feel the new era dawing.

New image for the 21 st century.

Big time tournament in the States.

Progressive manager at the helm.

The School of Science reborn.....(y)

Roberto.....come on down, son.

The best little Spaniard we know.

I have to admit i am a little excited about the football we will play. I think we have the players to complement his style. i really hope if he comes it works out.

Not a bad choice. In terms of trophies, he has one, and Moyes have none.
...and Martinez beat Moyes 3-0, so Martinez is infinite times better (like a boss)
And I suspect he is chosen because Moyes plays safe.
Maybe Moyes suggests Bill to find a manager with EPL experience, so he doesn't have much choice.

My main issue here is that it was a chance to get a major European manager in Pereira, inspire the better players at our club to stay and look forward to a bit of ambition, and send a statement out across Europe that we mean a bit of business. That, combined with the increased money, could have seen a few good players turning out for us next year.

Instead, we've got Roberto Martinez. A bit harder to convince the odd Michu floating around the continent that we're going on to bigger and better things when we hire a manager who just got relegated, regardless of everything else.

Hopefully he'll do a job, I dunno...

Periera's had one of the easiest jobs in football. So long as he gets 4 points out of the games vs Benfica his team have won the league...

"Whenever he wants to go I'll release him immediately but he'll only go to a big, big club and I don't think Everton are big enough."

May 28th 2013

"Everton rang me and I said they have permission to talk to him."

Dave Whelan proving what an absolute ******** he is

This shows how deluded the broken leg is.

Yeah, he will need to find us a striker for this team to blossom. Could Mirallas be our striker

I thought you was pro Martinez

Not sure if its been mentioned or not regarding the 3-5-2 but in an interview, Available on the Executioners Bong (Won't let me link), he says the only reason they played 3-5-2 was because they couldn't compete with other teams playing 4-4-2

“Everyone played 4-4-2 but we couldn’t compete like that with the budget restrictions we had. So we started with 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, and it gave us a lot of success”.

Sort of agree, but it's the impression that hiring a manager like that would mean, even if it were just in the short term.

Martinez, on the other hand, just leaves me pretty much doing this:

It's not a disastrous appointment, but it's not exactly an inspired one. Phrase that keeps coming to the forefront of my mind is "opportunity missed".

Then again, "Opportunity Missed" could replace "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" as our slogan, so I suppose it's apt.

I'll give him a chance, if it had have been Lennon/Hughes etc I would be fuming but we'll see how he goes and hopefully he can get us playing great football. Viva Martinez!
