Oh, go on then...

Mate...I massively apologize for missing this...not sure how I missed the alert. Excellent work...now make the red part go away ;) Yellow perhaps? White? Anything but red.

Well, the club don't seem to have a strong leader in their marketing department with a vision for what they want to sell the club as and the power to carry it out. I don't have high hopes for this mural as a branding exercise, but I think that is it's intended purpose.

Marketing pushes really need to be very well coordinated and bought into. There are loads of ways to market Everton. The club doesn't seem to be sure how they want to go about it. But I do wonder if some of that has to do with the fans. It seems 90% of the time the club tries something new it's met with moaning about how it's something the Kopites would do, or how it's 'not Everton' or some such.

The problem with branding is keeping what is uniquely Everton and packaging that in a consumable (i.e., translatable and understandable) way for other markets without turning the product into what some of the other clubs do. How do you market a proper football club in a way that people in America, Spain, and Asia can understand (just to pick three markets that are quite different but certainly a little more outspoken in brand imagery than the UK).

Bottom line for me: if you win stuff, you sell stuff.

There's no short cut to the big bucks. You give people who dont get it something tangible to latch onto. If this club had the 1995 cup win right now we could do a lot more with that than a manager who's got a decent first season behind him.

If you're on TV, you sell stuff

Which is why it's important to win stuff, because:

If you win stuff, you get on TV

What is being put up, a portrait of Roberto or just his "solo le mejor" quote ?

a huge portrait of him mate, thought they might have included a few players or that but I seen it yesterday and it's just Roberto with his arms folded looking like some sort of dictator

when you see it next to the Goodison Park home of the blues banner on the back of the park end it doesn't look too bad

but like most on here I'm not really a fan of the idea

I tried alternative colours (including electric pink), but it doesn't work without the red. It's a pretty famous poster by now, and the colour scheme is one of its most striking characteristics.
