I think it places a lot of pressure on the manager. I cant believe he'd have been fully on board with that. It's got the potential to be counterproductive for him if or when we have a poor run of form.

You only do tricks like this when a manager is completely unassailable in terms of their credibility.

A holy trinity of Kendall, Royle and Catterick would have been more appropriate. Or a mural of men like Mahon and Baxter who were crucial to Everton's early history.

Had this thought too, can't imagine Martinez agreeing to this in the first place. For a club that likes to save the pennies, I'm pretty sure this was reactive.

I would hope it was planned but as you say, given they never mentioned the rotation when they unveiled the first one, I doubt it was.
