The best stat's this season can be found in the stands!!
So far average attendence this season has been - 37,278 ;)

compared to 2 years ago... 30,031

We averaged 33,228 that season and 36,356 last season.

Crowds have always been steady regardless of the football being played

Hmm.. maybe can't trust my source? Still say's alot for the even bigger jump this season!

Can only imagine the last few home games selling out too! Arsenal, United, City and even Crystal Palace with the signifigance of this "game in hand"

That 30,000 includes 3 league cup games played at home which usually bring low crowds in.

It's helped this season that they now sell the seats in the upper bullens that they away fans don't take

only 1 less on GD compared to last season so you'd think we'd beat that baring a tonking by city. last season may not have been our best GD though.

Anybody know what position in the table we would be in for past seasons? Got a feeling we'd be in the top 4 most other seasons. Be just our luck...

It could be worse, United could have a manager other than Moyes and Spurs could've used their money wisely.

Last season after 30 games we'd have been 3rd with 57 points. 4 points ahead of Arsenal in 5th, and ahead of Spurs on goal difference, but with a game in hand over them.

I suppose it was only a matter of time, but even I didn't think it would be this soon.

Has Roberto already outgrown Everton?

FFS. :-(

i know what you mean...hate talk like this. The Guardian's Football Weekly podcast devoted most of their Everton vs Newcastly discussion on whether Martinez might take over at Barca or Arsenal.

Why does no one appreciate Everton as a big club?

...but you cannot look at it in isolation like that. The fact that the competition is so intense at the top this season might be because teams up there realising the intensity of the competition KNOW they have to pull out an extra 10% each game...which makes the completion more intense...etc etc.

Makes for a good intense competition like

And here was me thinking this thread was about comparisons to previous seasons.

yes, we are comparing this season to other seasons. And what I said is this season's competition at the top is more intense that previous seasons...where is your issue with that?

No issue mate. Just thought it was a relevant point as to how well Bobby is doing. Like I said, if we'd accumulated the points we have this season, in many other seasons, we'd likely be nailed on for top four. And considering the competition is more 'intense' it makes it even more impressive.

City, Chelsea, Liverpool - not a chance of wanting or getting Roberto
Arsenal - if Wenger goes right now his profile isn't high enough
Spurs - why would he?
Barca - are you kidding me?

The biggest threat would be from a decent/mid-table Spanish team but even that seems unlikely. Managers don't leave success stories overnight - like when they are building something and their position is strong - only the two-faced ones like Warnock and Redknapp.

Thankfully our much esteemed (!!) previous manager has blown the myth of good enough right out the window. The top sides pick the managers with experience at that level. Never been any different really. The opportunities for a Ferguson (1986), Wenger (1996) are no longer there. Both of those managers had achieved something at a lower level and both United and Arsenal were very ordinary sides when they appointed those two.

Yes indeed, it was tongue in cheek.

The same way that SAF got the extra 10% from the United players that Moyes cant.

It was his biggest fault, he could build squads, but never really got the most out of them week in, week out.

Hmmm true. Moyesies down fall is thinking too much about how to stop the opposition from doing damage, instead of setting his own teams up to do damage to the opposition.

SAF & Martinez are the opposite, they set up teams and send em out to go at teams from the off and to win first and foremost, they give them the belief to go and take control of games, give them the confidence that they can win every game they go into.

Yes, that isnt always the case, but a positive mindset beats a negative one everytime for me, being told to go out and take the game to the opposition and that we can win would get me up more than say, being told the opposition are greater, there a real threat and we need to get 10 men behind the ball, soak up the pressure and play the percentages to try and nick a goal and then defend it would for example.

Fcuk to taking a knife to a gun fight anymore, were going there with a knife, bullet proof vest and armour and were there to give as good as we get!
