I suppose at least Olsen has proved he is a good alternative, so if/when Pickford drops another clanger Olsen is ready to come in.

Agree with this. Olsen has done what he had to - Pickford now knows he has genuine competition and can be dropped if he makes another mistake. It's basically a warning shot from Carlo and also by confirming Pickford is back next week he avoids feeding the media machine who would try to make 'Pickford dropped' the talking point of the week.

I could be wrong but I took what Carlo said as more of a challenge to Pickford for a big game next week. Not being funny but he should be starting, he’s been ours and England’s first choice and we paid big money for him.

Of course Carlo doesn’t want Roma’s second choice keeper on loan to start ahead of him. I feel this was a message though that Pickford isn’t invincible anymore, he’ll get dropped like he was for the last game and United is among his last chances.

If Pickford has another stinker against United I think we’ll be seeing Olsen for the rest of the season or at least until he makes a mistake himself. This is the kick up the arse Pickford needs and if he’s not up to the challenge there’s a lad sitting on the bench waiting to take his place that the manager now trusts. He needs to show he can come back otherwise he’ll be dropped from us and in turn from England.
